According to Tuoi Tre Online , Vietjet has officially opened ticket sales for flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao since April 19. Thus, the exploitation plan has been delayed by 5 days compared to Vietjet's plan.
The price of a direct flight from Hanoi to Con Dao is from 4.3 to 5 million VND/ticket/way, with 2 flights per day. Similarly, for the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route, Vietjet operates 2 flights per day, with ticket prices from 1 to 2.4 million VND/ticket/way.
Meanwhile, Vasco sells tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route on Vietnam Airlines' website at prices ranging from 1.7 - 2.5 million VND/ticket.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route was operated by Vasco, a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, using ATR72 aircraft.
Bamboo Airways once operated this route to compete with Vasco, but after a short time, the airline stopped operating on this route from the beginning of 2024 due to returning the aircraft.
After Bamboo Airways withdrew, passengers from the North who want to go to Con Dao must transfer to Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho, then continue traveling by ATR72 aircraft. Vietjet's participation will bring more options for passengers, especially helping to save time and costs.
Previously, data from Flightradar24 showed that at 5:02 p.m. on April 12, a C909 landed at Noi Bai airport. The plane departed from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and was operated by Chengdu Airlines.
On his personal page, Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, CEO of Vietjet, also posted a picture of the C909 at Noi Bai airport with Vietjet's colors and logo and called this a "new milestone" for the airline.
The C909 is the first domestic commercial aircraft developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac).
This aircraft was officially put into commercial operation in June 2016, with the first flight carried out by Chengdu Airlines.
According to information from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), Vietjet has submitted a plan to operate flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao. The airline has requested the airport to serve the flights and related ground services for this type of aircraft.
Previously, from December 2024, Vietjet sent a report to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Ministry of Transport (before merging with the Ministry of Construction) about signing a wet lease contract (including aircraft and crew) for two Comac ARJ21s from Chengdu Airlines to serve the Con Dao route. Chengdu Airlines was the first airline to commercially operate this aircraft model since 2016.
Comac ARJ21 is equipped with American GE CF34-10A engine and Liebherr (Germany) aircraft, with a range of 2,225 - 3,700km, and a capacity of 78-97 seats.
More than 160 C909s have been delivered and used by 11 domestic Chinese airlines and two international airlines, TransNusa of Indonesia and Lao Airlines of Laos.
In March 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam proposed to the Ministry of Construction to amend a number of legal regulations, including Decree 92/2016 and Circular 01/2011, to recognize China's flight certification standards.
