Vietcombank cooperates with the Ministry of Public Security to organize a workshop to raise awareness about personal data protection

Recently, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) coordinated with the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), under the Ministry of Public Security, to successfully organize a workshop to raise awareness about personal data protection.

With the aim of raising awareness of personal data protection at Vietcombank units, and answering questions related to compliance with Decree 13 and the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection, the workshop was organized on a system-wide scale in two forms: in person and online, with the participation of representatives of Vietcombank's Board of Directors, leaders of some branches and units at Vietcombank's headquarters.

Attending the workshop were Ms. Doan Hong Nhung, member of the Executive Board, Director of Vietcombank Retail Division and representative of the unit in charge of personal data protection at Vietcombank - the focal point for organizing the workshop: Mr. Nguyen Thinh - Deputy Director of Vietcombank Data and Analysis Center. On the A05 side, there was the participation of Major, Master. Dao Duc Trieu - Deputy Head of the Department of Receiving Documents and Returning Results of Administrative Procedures on Personal Data Protection, Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Research Department, Policy and Legal Consulting of the National Cyber ​​Security Association.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ms. Doan Hong Nhung, member of the Executive Board, Director of Vietcombank Retail Division, said: "Data has become a strategic asset of the country, especially financial institutions. For Vietcombank, data is an important factor determining development and success in the new period. Realizing this, in the past time, Vietcombank's Board of Directors has closely directed and synthesized resources to implement Decree 13 in 2022, and at the same time contributed to the Draft Law on National Data Protection that A05 of the Ministry of Public Security is the focal point for drafting. Vietcombank hopes that the instructions, answers and direct advice from representatives of A05 of the Ministry of Public Security at today's workshop will bring practical and effective information to units at Vietcombank to best implement Decree 13 as well as the Law on Personal Data Protection".

Overview of the workshop to raise awareness about personal data protection at Vietcombank headquarters

Sharing at the workshop on Vietcombank's personal data protection, Mr. Nguyen Thinh - Deputy Director of Vietcombank Data and Analysis Center emphasized: "Vietcombank is processing personal data for millions of customers. Realizing this, the bank always focuses on data security and information system security. It is not only a legal responsibility but also the foundation for building trust between the bank and customers". In fact, as soon as Decree 13 was issued, Vietcombank quickly focused resources, established a Project Implementation Board to hire a consulting unit to build a personal data protection framework, ensuring compliance with regulations throughout the system. Vietcombank also closely monitors and continuously updates policies on regulations related to personal data.

Within the framework of the workshop, the unit leaders and participating staff listened to presentations by speaker Major Dao Duc Trieu with a lot of useful information. With a duration of more than 2 hours, Major Dao Duc Trieu shared the situation of personal data protection in recent times from the world to Vietnam; at the same time, popularized the notable points of the content of Decree No. 13, especially for the banking industry.

The workshop spent 30 minutes for speaker Dao Duc Trieu to answer professional questions from representatives of Vietcombank's staff and unit leaders who were present directly at the Head Office as well as the Branches. As the focal point for completing the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection, which is about to be submitted for promulgation in the near future, speaker Dao Duc Trieu provided practical and useful information and clarified and resolved many difficulties in the implementation process at the bank.

In the context that Vietcombank is always committed to protecting customer data and strictly complying with legal regulations, the workshop helps Vietcombank units and staff better understand the requirements, obligations, and instructions related to Decree 13 on personal data protection and the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection, thereby supporting the bank in implementing, improving the safety, transparency of data and the reputation of the bank.
