Vietcombank appoints new Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, new Chairman of Vietcombank Board of Directors

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung was born in 1974 in Hanoi, graduated from Foreign Trade University, University of Foreign Languages ​​and International Studies, majoring in English, and has a master's degree in economics from Paris Dauphine University/ESCP.

Mr. Tung started working at Vietcombank in 1997 as an officer in the international credit department. He then became Secretary of the Executive Board and Secretary of the Board of Directors.

In early 2008, he was appointed Chief of Staff of Vietcombank and by mid-2013, Deputy Director of Vietcombank Transaction Office Branch.

Next, Mr. Tung successively held the positions of Acting Director, Director of Vietcombank Tay Ho branch, Director of Corporate Customer Department at the head office, Director of Wholesale Division and Director of Corporate Customer Department at the head office.

In April 2019, Mr. Tung was appointed by Vietcombank's Board of Directors as Deputy General Director in charge of wholesale and from August 2021 as Deputy General Director in charge of the executive board.

In early 2023, he was appointed by his superiors to hold the position of General Director of Vietcombank.

In early 2024, Mr. Tung continued to be assigned as the legal representative, when Mr. Pham Quang Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors, was appointed by the Government as Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.

At this time, because Vietcombank has a vacant position as Chairman of the Board of Directors, the bank assigned Mr. Do Viet Hung to be in charge of the Board of Directors.

After Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Vietcombank also dismissed Mr. Do Viet Hung from his position in charge of the Board of Directors. However, Mr. Hung still retains his position as a member of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank.

On the other hand, Vietcombank also appointed Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Deputy General Director, as Deputy General Director in charge of the Executive Board. Mr. Vinh will hold this position until Vietcombank completes its General Director personnel.
