(Chinhphu.vn) - On April 17, within the framework of the 4th Partnership for Sustainable Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit hosted by Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ms. Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Ms. Rebeca Grynspan for attending the P4G Summit in Hanoi , contributing to the overall success of the Summit as well as demonstrating UNCTAD's valuable support for Vietnam.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and UNCTAD, expressing his belief that cooperation between the two sides will become increasingly better and more effective.

Sharing about the world situation, especially in the context of increasing global trade competition, the Prime Minister emphasized that countries need to promote multilateralism, international solidarity, and join hands to overcome challenges and difficulties.

The Prime Minister affirmed the importance of international trade and investment, considering it the driving force of growth, and said that this is an opportunity for UNCTAD to affirm its role and contribution in addressing challenges to global trade and investment, and for everyone to work together to build a "bright, green, clean, beautiful" and prosperous earth.

Regarding the organization of the 16th UNCTAD Ministerial Conference, the Prime Minister affirmed that, in the spirit of "what is said is done, what is committed is implemented" and the experience of successfully organizing many international conferences, Vietnam will closely coordinate to successfully organize the 16th UNCTAD Ministerial Conference in accordance with international practices and Vietnamese law; requesting UNCTAD to continue to coordinate and exchange closely with relevant agencies of Vietnam to prepare for the Conference.

Ms. Rebeca Grynspan congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 4th P4G Summit with the theme "Sustainable green transformation, focusing on people", expressing her impression with the speech of the Vietnamese senior leader at the P4G Summit, which conveyed a strong message about Vietnam's consistent commitment to upholding multilateralism, respecting international law as well as complying with international commitments.

Ms. Gryspan emphasized that Vietnam's successful organization of the Conference and the Prime Minister's message are clear evidence of Vietnam's strong commitment to implementing the United Nations' sustainable development goals, as well as its determination to work with the international community to promote green and sustainable transformation strategies at the national, regional and global levels.

Sharing the Prime Minister’s assessment of the world situation, the UNCTAD Secretary-General said that global trade in general and developing countries in particular are facing many challenges. In that context, Vietnam continues to affirm itself as a strong and dynamic economy, truly becoming a successful example of economic transformation and development.

Therefore, Ms. Grynspan expects that the 16th UNCTAD Ministerial Conference held in Vietnam will be a good opportunity to introduce Vietnam's success as well as share lessons learned from other countries.

Regarding the role of UNCTAD, Ms. Grynspan affirmed that she will make efforts to support countries, especially developing countries, to overcome current challenges, as well as continue to promote multilateralism and international trade relations in the spirit of mutual respect and international law./.
