Vietnam and Singapore strengthen supervision in implementing agreements on green economy and digital economy

During the official visit to Singapore, on the morning of December 2, after the official welcoming ceremony at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Singaporean Parliament Chairman Seah Kian Peng.

One of the important contents at the talks, the two leaders of the National Assembly of Vietnam and Singapore affirmed: economic and trade cooperation continues to be an important pillar in bilateral relations; agreed to create a favorable legal corridor and step up the supervision of ministries, branches, localities, and enterprises in implementing signed Agreements and Agreements, especially in new growth areas such as green economy, digital economy, clean energy, cyber security, innovation, ... as well as other key areas of the Framework Agreement on Connecting the Two Economies.

At the meeting, Singaporean Parliament Speaker Seah Kian Peng expressed his pleasure to welcome Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man made his first official visit to Singapore in his new position; affirmed that after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of establishing the Strategic Partnership, the Vietnam - Singapore relationship has continuously developed, reaching many important milestones in all fields, and all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchanges; emphasized that the two countries share a strategic vision, have close ties between leaders, have close trade and investment links, and close relations between the two peoples.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng and the leaders and deputies of the Singaporean National Assembly for their warm, respectful and thoughtful reception for the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly; and conveyed the regards and best wishes of health from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State to National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng.

Congratulating Singapore on its strong development achievements, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man believes that Singapore will gain more achievements in building a “dynamic and integrated, fair and competitive, resilient and united” Singapore and having an increasingly high position in the region and in the international arena; emphasizing that Vietnam always considers Singapore a leading important partner in the region, sharing interests and a common strategic vision.

In a sincere and open atmosphere, the two sides had in-depth discussions on major orientations and measures to strengthen cooperation and elevate relations in the coming time.

The two leaders agreed that political and diplomatic cooperation will continue to play a core role in guiding the overall relationship between the two countries, through increased delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his gratitude and asked Singapore to continue supporting Vietnam in training and fostering strategic officials, including those who are in the planning for the 14th Central Committee.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as infrastructure development and transport connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.

Discussing security and defense cooperation, the two sides assessed that this is an important field with much room for promotion, such as further promoting dialogue mechanisms, exchanges between sea, land, and air forces, cooperation in cyber security, search and rescue, military medicine, promoting maritime connectivity, protecting the environment and marine ecology through the application of new technologies.

To promote substantive cooperation between the two National Assemblies, the two leaders agreed that it is necessary to continue to effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies, contributing to further developing the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership and soon raising it to a new height; enhancing information exchange and sharing each country's experiences in perfecting institutions, policies, and legal systems, ensuring macroeconomic stability, expanding foreign relations, and improving the effectiveness of international integration; implementing cooperation activities between the Committees and agencies of the National Assembly, between parliamentarians of the two countries, including young parliamentarians, female parliamentarians, etc.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the Singaporean National Assembly pay attention and have policies to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses, investors and Vietnamese people in Singapore to live, work and study conveniently, contributing to the development of bilateral relations as well as contributing to the socio-economic development of Singapore.

Discussing international and regional issues, the two leaders agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation, coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, including international and regional inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the United Nations, ASEAN and ASEAN-led mechanisms, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of each country in the region and the world.

Regarding regional issues, the two sides shared similar views on building and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development in the Asia-Pacific region; agreed on the need to maintain and ensure maritime and aviation security and safety in the East Sea, and peacefully resolve disputes on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

At the end of the talks, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited the Singaporean National Assembly Chairman and his wife to make an official visit to Vietnam as soon as possible. The Speaker of the Singapore Parliament happily accepted the invitation.
