Vietnam and Japan need to study mechanisms to create further breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation; Japan continues to support Vietnam in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, promoting the complementary strengths of the two economies. This is the proposal of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the meeting with Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka, Minister of the Japanese Cabinet Office, in charge of Economic Recovery, Entrepreneurship, Risk Management from Infectious Diseases, Reform of Social Security for All Ages, Financial-Economic Policy, and at the same time Minister in charge of CPTPP Agreement of Japan on the afternoon of July 9 at the Government Headquarters.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed regards and best wishes to Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, highly appreciated Japan's socio-economic development achievements in recent times under difficult conditions, and believed that the Japanese economy will continue to play an important role in the global economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister Shindo Yoshitaka assessed that the Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation has developed strongly and comprehensively in recent times with high political trust. In 2023, the two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. In addition to the CPTPP, the two sides are also members of many other FTAs and economic cooperation frameworks such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJCEP), the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA), and most recently the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). These cooperation frameworks play an important role in promoting trade, investment and business relations between the two countries to a new level.
The Prime Minister thanked Japan for its support and assistance to Vietnam; emphasized that currently, the two sides still have a lot of room to exploit the advantages and incentives from the cooperation frameworks of which both sides are members, especially the CPTPP Agreement as a new generation FTA with many extensive commitments; requested the Minister to continue to make many contributions to further deepen mutual understanding and trust, promoting bilateral trade cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides maintain high-level contacts; strongly promote bilateral cooperation activities between the two countries in all fields on the basis of the very good political relationship, with the spirit of "what is said must be done, what is committed must be implemented".
The Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will study mechanisms to create further breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation; Japan will continue to support Vietnam in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, promoting the complementary strengths of the two economies.
The Prime Minister proposed that Japan promote consideration and continue to open the market for fresh fruits from Vietnam to Japan, first of all Vietnamese grapefruit - Japanese grapes; then Vietnamese passion fruit and Japanese peaches; create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in production, supply, import and export chains of Japan. Along with that, the two sides exchanged experiences, promoted cooperation in innovation, science and technology, emerging fields such as green development, digital economy, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy, etc.; promoted cooperation in high-tech agriculture, labor cooperation, education, human resource training; cooperation in responding to climate change, population aging, etc.; promoted people-to-people exchange, cultural cooperation, tourism, cooperation between localities.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and requested the Japanese side to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Japan to live, study and work; affirmed that the Vietnamese side will continue to pay attention to training workers in terms of qualifications, professional skills, cultural and legal understanding, etc. to meet the requirements of the Japanese side, promoting labor cooperation in the spirit of "listening and understanding together; sharing vision and action together; working together, winning together, enjoying together and developing together".
Minister Shindo Yoshitaka affirmed that he personally will continue to contribute to strongly promoting relations with Vietnam, especially in his position as Minister in charge of economy, especially in the fields, contents, and key industries mentioned by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
He highly appreciated Vietnam's quality human resources and said that Japan will continue to innovate its reception policy and promote training cooperation so that Japan becomes a more attractive destination for Vietnamese interns and workers, and Vietnamese interns and workers in Japan can maximize their abilities and innovate...
Discussing the implementation of CPTPP and the accession of other economies to the Agreement, the Prime Minister and Minister Shindo Yoshitaka said that the growing interest in joining of many important economies in the region and the world shows the attractiveness of the Agreement.
The two sides agreed to continue to coordinate with each other and with other CPTPP members in the implementation of the Agreement and in the process of considering applications for accession of other economies, on the basis of ensuring the quality and high standards of the Agreement, in accordance with the wishes of all member countries on the principle of consensus; helping to bring more benefits to businesses and people, making the Agreement play an even more important role in regional and global trade.
