The meeting aims to update Vietnam and Germany's science, technology and innovation development policies, evaluate the results achieved by both sides since the previous meeting, and discuss directions and plans for bilateral cooperation activities in the coming time.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat highly appreciated the efforts of agencies and research institutes in implementing the conclusions of the second session, including the program on management and warning of severe natural disasters in urban areas of Vietnam and Germany that has been deployed. The Minister said that international cooperation and integration are among the important solutions to help Vietnam quickly improve its potential and level of science and technology.
Germany has always been one of Vietnam's important partners in science-technology and innovation cooperation. The delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam shared updated information on the national strategy for science-technology development and innovation to 2030, the national strategy for research, development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) to 2030, and strategic orientations for the development and application of biotechnology to serve the country's sustainable development in the new situation.
BMBF State Secretary Jens Brandenburg said that Germany and Vietnam have successfully cooperated in science and technology for many years, including in the fields of sustainable urban development, land management, climate change adaptation, bioeconomy, etc. Recently, the two sides have promoted cooperation in the fields of water, environmental technology and health research.
The two sides discussed and agreed on specific cooperation contents between the two ministries in the coming time, aiming to realize the goals of the science and technology cooperation agreement between the two governments in 2015; agreed to expand many bilateral cooperation programs between government agencies, research institutes, universities and science and technology organizations of the two countries.
During the working trip, the delegation visited the High-Tech Park and worked with the Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia; worked with the Chairman of the pioneering technology group WILO SE and visited the Smart Factory in Dortmund; worked with Humboldt University, one of the oldest universities in Germany in Berlin; met with scientists and intellectuals of Vietnamese origin working and researching in Germany...
