Vietnam and Germany promote cooperation in science and technology.

The meeting aimed to update Vietnam and Germany on science , technology, and innovation development policies, assess the results achieved since the previous meeting, and discuss directions and plans for future bilateral cooperation activities.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat highly appreciated the efforts of agencies and research institutes in implementing the conclusions of the second session, including the program for managing and warning of severe natural disasters in urban areas of Vietnam and Germany that has been implemented. The Minister stated that international cooperation and integration is one of the important solutions to help Vietnam quickly improve its scientific and technological potential and level.

Germany has always been one of Vietnam's important partners in science, technology, and innovation cooperation. The delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology shared updated information on the national strategy for science, technology, and innovation development until 2030, the national strategy for research, development, and application of artificial intelligence (AI) until 2030, and the strategic orientation for the development and application of biotechnology to serve sustainable national development in the new context.

BMBF State Secretary Jens Brandenburg noted that Germany and Vietnam have successfully cooperated in science and technology for many years, including in the fields of sustainable urban development, land management, climate change adaptation, and bioeconomy . Recently, the two sides have strengthened cooperation in the areas of water, environmental technology, and health research.

The two sides discussed and agreed on specific areas of cooperation between the two ministries in the coming period, aiming to realize the objectives of the 2015 agreement on science and technology cooperation between the two governments; they also agreed to expand many bilateral cooperation programs between government agencies, research institutes, universities, and science and technology organizations of the two countries.

During the working trip, the delegation visited the High-Tech Park and worked with the Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia; worked with the Chairman of the pioneering technology group WILO SE and toured the Smart Factory in Dortmund; worked with Humboldt University, one of Germany's oldest universities in Berlin; and met with Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals working and researching in Germany...
