Vietnam supports the just struggle of the Palestinian people

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam will always support the just struggle for national independence of the Palestinian people and consistently support the two-state solution.

On the afternoon of December 26, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Professor Riad Malki, Special Envoy of the Palestinian President, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Welcoming the Special Envoy to visit Vietnam, President Luong Cuong affirmed that the visit is of great significance, contributing to further strengthening the traditional friendship and promoting cooperation between the two countries.

Through Special Envoy Riad Malki, the President conveyed his regards and thanks to President Mahmoud Abbas for his affection and best wishes for the country and people of Vietnam.

The Special Envoy of the Palestinian President respectfully thanked President Luong Cuong for taking the time to receive the delegation; conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas's congratulations to President Luong Cuong on the occasion of his election to the new position and conveyed the President's letter with the message of wishing to further promote bilateral cooperation with Vietnam.

Professor Riad Malki expressed his admiration for Vietnam's great achievements and considered Vietnam a successful model in national construction and development; shared the latest developments on the situation in Palestine as well as expressed deep gratitude for Vietnam's stance of always supporting the legitimate and inviolable rights of the Palestinian people.

The President pointed out that the bond between Vietnam and Palestine was formed from years of fighting together for national independence and liberation and has continued to be nurtured and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

The President affirmed that Vietnam will always consistently support the just struggle for national independence of the Palestinian people and consistently support the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian State living peacefully with the State of Israel, on the basis of compliance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The President expressed that as a country that has experienced many wars and suffered much pain and loss, Vietnam understands and shares the enormous losses that the Palestinian people have suffered during more than a year of conflict; affirmed that Vietnam has repeatedly called on all parties to immediately cease fire, end hostile and violent acts, respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians and create maximum conditions, further strengthen urgent humanitarian relief activities for the Palestinian people.

The President said that Vietnam welcomes and supports all international mediation and reconciliation efforts towards a sustainable and just peace solution in the Middle East, affirming Vietnam's consistent stance of strongly supporting the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions; at the same time, Vietnam is ready to coordinate with Palestine and the international community, within its capacity, to participate in promoting humanitarian aid efforts as well as mediation and reconciliation activities to achieve this prerequisite goal.

To strengthen and promote the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries in the coming time, the two sides agreed to actively exchange to promote cooperation in potential areas, including continuing to closely coordinate and support each other at international forums and organizations, especially at the United Nations; promoting the implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, first of all the Political Consultation mechanism between the two countries' Foreign Ministries and enhancing exchange and cooperation activities between Friendship and People's Solidarity Associations to consolidate the spirit of solidarity and enhance understanding between the people of the two countries.

Special Envoy Riad Malki once again thanked the President and people of Vietnam for their warm welcome, and affirmed that he will closely coordinate and promote the commitments and results of the visit to further consolidate and deepen the solidarity, traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries, meeting the expectations of the leaders and people of the two countries./.
