Within the framework of attending the 2025 Annual Investment Conference in Abu Dhabi, on the afternoon of April 7, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung visited the headquarters and talked with UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung thanked the UAE Government for inviting Vietnam to attend the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in 2025. The two sides were pleased with the remarkable developments in bilateral relations, especially in the past 6 months after upgrading the relationship to a comprehensive partnership during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh 's visit to the UAE (October 2024). Notably, delegation exchanges took place vigorously at all levels, with businesses from both sides actively connecting and discussing specific cooperation projects in many fields...

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the friendly and cooperative relationship with the UAE, and wishes to create a breakthrough in economic and investment cooperation by encouraging UAE businesses to increase research and investment in key projects of Vietnam in potential areas of both sides such as digital transformation, green transformation, clean energy, semiconductors, financial centers, free trade zones, etc. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is interested in and will create favorable conditions for UAE businesses to explore cooperation opportunities with Vietnam, expressing his hope that the two sides will soon achieve large-scale investment projects in the near future.

The UAE Minister of Economy welcomed Vietnam sending high-ranking leaders to attend the AIM Conference, emphasizing that the visits are evidence that the cooperation between the two countries has truly been raised to a new level. Affirming that UAE investors are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market, the UAE Minister of Economy agreed with the Deputy Prime Minister's proposals and pledged to actively coordinate and promote UAE agencies and businesses to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam.

In order to create conditions for businesses to meet and learn about projects, the environment and investment opportunities, and to implement the commitments made during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's previous visit to the UAE, the two sides agreed to coordinate to organize a large-scale Investment Forum in Vietnam, scheduled for October 2025; increase exchanges and share experiences in policy making in areas of strength and interest of both sides such as anti-money laundering, innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, etc. in the spirit of cooperation and mutual support for development.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also expressed his hope that the UAE Minister of Economy will lead delegations of large UAE businesses and investment funds to soon visit and discuss economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Vietnam.

Previously, on the sidelines of the AIM Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also received Jordanian Minister of State for Investment Zaher Al Qatarneh.

At the meeting, the two sides were pleased with the positive developments in the Vietnam-Jordan friendship and cooperation, notably the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Crown Prince of Jordan at the Future Investment Forum (FII 8) in Saudi Arabia in October 2024.

To further promote bilateral relations in the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, thereby consolidating political trust and facilitating the expansion of cooperation in various fields. Regarding economic cooperation, the two sides agreed to create conditions and open the door for the two countries' strong products to be exported to each other's markets, while taking advantage of the role of Vietnam and Jordan as gateways to penetrate potential markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The two sides also agreed to increase the organization of conferences and seminars to promote trade and investment to introduce the potential and opportunities for cooperation as well as connect businesses of both sides, aiming for the target of 500 million USD in bilateral trade turnover in the coming time.

The Jordanian State Secretary affirmed that they share similarities with Vietnam in market opening and international integration, in which Jordan has also signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with many countries and regions in the world. The State Secretary affirmed that the two sides still have much potential for cooperation, expressing the hope that Vietnamese enterprises will strengthen economic cooperation, encouraging enterprises of both sides to study investment in each country to effectively utilize the signed FTAs.

To create a favorable legal framework for cooperation, the two sides agreed to soon negotiate and sign important economic cooperation documents such as the Agreement on Investment Promotion and Protection, the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation, promote the early establishment of a political consultation mechanism to review and promote bilateral cooperation and study the early establishment of representative agencies in each country.
