According to Agoda's search data for April 2024, Malaysia saw an 89% increase in searches. Japan ranked second with a 71% year-on-year growth. Vietnam came in third, recording a 66% increase in searches from European travelers.
In Vietnam, the three most sought-after destinations for European tourists are Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, and Nha Trang, offering the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and culture. These three destinations are also ideal choices for travelers wanting to make the most of their extended summer vacation in Vietnam.
The European tourists who searched for Vietnam the most were from France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain, in that order.

Furthermore, with the European summer approaching, Asian travel destinations, including Vietnam, are not only among the most popular destinations outside of Europe but are also experiencing strong growth. Agoda recorded a 52% increase in searches for accommodation by European travelers in April 2024 for Asian summer trips.
The above factors show that Asian destinations have a strong appeal to many tourists with diverse travel needs. European tourists love traveling to Asia because it offers a rich variety of travel experiences, from vibrant street life and ancient historical sites to luxurious resort destinations.
According to the National Tourism Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the number of international tourists to Vietnam in April reached 1.55 million, 58.2% higher than the same period last year. In the first four months of 2024, the total number of international tourists reached 6.2 million, an increase of 68.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
In terms of market size, South Korea continues to be Vietnam's largest source market with 1.6 million visitors (accounting for 25.8%). China ranks second with 1.25 million visitors (accounting for 20%), followed by Taiwan (China) in third place (418,000 visitors), the US in fourth place (301,000 visitors), and Japan in fifth place (235,000 visitors).
The top 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism also include Malaysia (181,000 visitors), Australia (180,000 visitors), Thailand (163,000 visitors), India (158,000 visitors), and Cambodia (155,000 visitors).
