UNESCO leaders and heads of delegations from countries highly appreciated Vietnam's important role and contributions in the common work, as a member of UNESCO's six governing mechanisms.

VNA correspondent in France quoted a source from the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as saying that on the occasion of attending the 10th Session of the General Assembly of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003 Convention), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, had meetings and worked with UNESCO Deputy Director-General and Assistant Director-General for External Relations and African Priorities Xing Qu; President of the General Assembly Simona-Mirela Miculescu, Bangladeshi Minister of Culture Naheed Ezaher Khan; President of the World Heritage Committee Vishal Sharma; President of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 Convention Nancy Ovelar and Heads of delegations of several countries, to promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc also worked with Director of the World Heritage Center Lazare Assomo, Director of the World Heritage Convention Advisory and Supervision Department of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Regina Durighello, to discuss strengthening cooperation in protecting and promoting the values of world heritages in Vietnam.
During the meetings and contacts, UNESCO leaders and heads of delegations from countries highly appreciated the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and UNESCO and member countries, as well as the important and effective role and contribution of Vietnam in the common work of the organization, as a member of the 6 executive mechanisms of UNESCO (General Assembly, Executive Council, World Heritage Committee, Vice President of the General Assembly and the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 Convention, Vice President of the Intergovernmental Committee of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions).

The countries emphasized that Vietnam is one of the countries that effectively implements UNESCO cooperation programs, typically in preserving and promoting heritage values associated with sustainable tourism development, economic development and people's livelihoods.
Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc, also asked countries and UNESCO to continue supporting and assisting Vietnam in the fields of education, culture, and science through sharing experiences and providing policy advice on human resource development, innovation, and promoting cultural values and heritage for sustainable development.
Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc hopes that the leaders and the UNESCO Secretariat will pay attention to, provide consulting support and support for new heritage dossiers of Vietnam such as the Yen Tu-Con Son-Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex, Oc Eo-Ba The Archaeological Site, Con Moong, intangible cultural heritage dossiers such as the Festival of the Lady of Sam Mountain, Dong Ho folk painting art, Cheo, Mo Muong, Lang Son Global Geopark dossier..., support in preserving and promoting the value of world heritages recognized by UNESCO, including the Project to preserve, restore and promote the value of the Central Area of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long-Hanoi.
UNESCO and ICOMOS leaders pledged to support Vietnam in building and promoting heritage dossiers as requested by the Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc respectfully invited and conveyed the invitations from the localities to UNESCO leaders to attend the Festival for Peace in 2024 (Quang Tri, July 2024), the 8th International Conference of the Global Geoparks Network in the Asia-Pacific region (Cao Bang, September 2024)...
UNESCO leaders appreciated Vietnam for organizing meaningful activities, thanked the invitation and looked forward to attending.
The 10th session of the General Assembly of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, taking place on June 11-12, 2024 in Paris, aims to discuss the orientation and policies for implementing the 2003 Convention, allocate funding to support the conservation of intangible heritage in countries and elect additional members of the 2003 Intergovernmental Committee for the 2024-2028 period./.
