Vietnam is ready to cooperate closely with the United States to receive back its citizens.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that recently, the reception of Vietnamese citizens deported by the United States has been based on the agreement on receiving back citizens signed between the two countries.

On the afternoon of February 13, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to reporters' questions about the Trump administration's deportation of many illegal immigrants and criminals, including Vietnamese, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that in recent times, the reception of Vietnamese citizens deported by the United States has been based on the agreement on the repatriation of citizens signed between the two countries. The two countries have had close, quick and timely coordination on this issue.

“Vietnam is willing to continue to cooperate closely with the US to receive back its citizens in the spirit of signed agreements and hopes that the US will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to reside, contributing to the development and prosperity of the US as well as actively contributing to the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development,” said Ms. Pham Thu Hang.

Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions about Vietnam's preparations for the risk of a trade war, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "As a highly open economy that is increasingly integrating deeply into the world economy, Vietnam always pays attention to and closely monitors the situation and developments of international trade to take appropriate measures, minimize impacts on the economy, and at the same time contribute to the healthy development of international trade. Vietnam is committed to strictly complying with international legal mechanisms, bilateral and multilateral trade commitments, strengthening international cooperation to build institutions, improve capacity, continue to promote trade liberalization, contributing to the healthy growth of the economy"./.
