On August 31, in response to a reporter's request for Vietnam's response to the above information, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "Vietnamese authorities are urgently clarifying the incident."

Fishing boat QNg 90495TS reported being attacked by a foreign ship on August 30.

Vietnam opposes all acts of using force against Vietnamese fishing vessels operating normally at sea, threatening the lives and safety as well as causing damage to the property and interests of fishermen, contrary to international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Ms. Hang emphasized.

Previously, on the evening of August 29, according to VNA, many fishermen on fishing boat QNg 90495TS of Quang Ngai reported to authorities that they were attacked by a foreign ship, injuring two fishermen and damaging property.

Fishing boat QNg 90495 TS is owned by Mr. Huynh Van Hoanh (43 years old), residing in Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district.

According to the fishermen and through reports to the border guards, at around 5:00 a.m. on August 28, fishing boat QNg 90495 TS was moving from Phu Lam island to Xa Cu beach (part of Vietnam's Hoang Sa archipelago) to fish, when it was chased by a foreign ship, which used a high-pressure water cannon to spray water at the fishing boat.

As a result, fisherman Huynh Van Hoanh (43 years old, ship owner and chief engineer) suffered a broken right arm; captain Huynh Van Tien (Mr. Hoanh’s son, 26 years old, also residing in Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district) suffered a head injury. At the time of the attack, there were 10 fishermen on board.
