On the afternoon of December 8, in Bangkok (Thailand), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen of Thailand.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue informed the King of the good results of the talks and meetings with the Speakers of the House of Representatives and Senate, the Prime Minister of Thailand, and the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Thai House of Representatives.
The National Assembly Chairman believes that under the wise reign of His Majesty the King, the National Assembly, Government and people of Thailand will continue to achieve greater achievements in national construction and development, and play an increasingly important role in the region and the world.
Vietnam always attaches importance to further strengthening the Enhanced Strategic Partnership with Thailand and hopes that the two countries will soon upgrade the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
The King of Thailand highly appreciated the significance of the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. Thailand and Vietnam are two close neighboring countries with long-standing relations, so continuing to strengthen relations is very necessary.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn congratulated the positive developments in bilateral relations and congratulated the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Thai House of Representatives. The King recalled his good impressions of Vietnam during his visits in 1992 and 1997 as Crown Prince.
The King agreed with the National Assembly Chairman's proposal to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Thailand, support and develop Vietnamese culture and language in Thailand, including President Ho Chi Minh relic sites, Vietnamese pagodas, Vietnam Street, and the Vietnam Studies Center.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the King's visit to Vietnam when he was still the Crown Prince and a member of the Thai Royal Family; these were important events to consolidate and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
The National Assembly Chairman conveyed the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong to the King and Queen of Thailand to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to the Thai Prime Minister to visit Vietnam and co-chair the 4th Joint Cabinet meeting in 2024.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the signing of the cooperation agreement by the two countries' National Assemblies will further promote relations between the two Parliaments, contributing to strengthening the Strategic Partnership, and hoped that the two countries would soon upgrade their relations at an appropriate time.
The Thai Prime Minister affirmed that he will visit Vietnam in 2024 and agreed to upgrade the two countries' relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The two leaders assessed that cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand is developing rapidly and effectively in all fields.
Within ASEAN, Thailand maintains its position as the largest trading partner (two-way turnover in 2022 reached a record of nearly 22 billion USD) and the second largest investor (nearly 14 billion USD) in Vietnam; cultural and people-to-people exchanges are increasingly vibrant.
The two sides agreed to strive to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD in a balanced direction and reduce trade barriers.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for Thai enterprises to expand investment and business in Vietnam in mutually beneficial fields.
The Prime Minister of Thailand agreed with the National Assembly Chairman that the two sides should closely coordinate to effectively implement the “Three Connectivity” strategy on the basis of ensuring common interests and win-win; promote cooperation to maintain existing supply chains and form new supply chains.
The two countries will also cooperate in connecting transport and infrastructure, increasing flight frequency, opening more routes, enhancing tourism cooperation, people-to-people exchange; enhancing cooperation in green economy, clean energy, equitable energy transition, etc.
The Thai Prime Minister highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Thailand. The Thai Government will continue to facilitate the Vietnamese community to do business, live, as well as preserve and promote President Ho Chi Minh relics in Thailand.
