According to a VNA correspondent in Kuala Lumpur, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the interest and cooperation of TNB and Malaysian enterprises with Vietnam, and affirmed that Vietnam has huge potential for wind power development, with a coastline of more than 3,260km. The Minister said that the power grid connecting Vietnam to Malaysia and Singapore will be part of the green power grid among Southeast Asian countries, and affirmed that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for investors to conduct research and survey locations for developing renewable energy projects to serve the green electricity export project. TNB Renewables is a subsidiary of the Malaysian Electricity Corporation (TNB). TNB is an energy enterprise that accounts for 50% of Malaysia's electricity capacity market share. Malaysia has developed an energy transition roadmap, aiming for net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve that goal, TNB is focusing on four main areas in the energy transition, including: expanding domestic and foreign renewable energy investment, promoting decarbonization technology, modernizing the grid and enhancing grid efficiency.Representatives of the Asia - Africa Market Department and the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) signed a Letter of Intent on Halal cooperation.
TNB representative - Mr. Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul Ahmad, Director in charge of legal affairs - affirmed that the company is aiming to accelerate the sustainable energy transition in Malaysia in particular and Southeast Asia in general. In recent times, the company has been very interested in investment cooperation with Vietnam in the field of onshore and offshore wind power. Mr. Shamsul Ahmad also expressed his hope that the two sides will not only support and facilitate the development of existing joint projects but also expand to investment cooperation projects in third countries. Regarding Halal cooperation, this is a field of cooperation that has received great attention from senior leaders of the two countries, playing a very important role, not only helping to increase bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Malaysia but also helping businesses of both sides exploit business opportunities in other markets. In that spirit, on November 22, the Asia - Africa Market Department and the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) signed a Letter of Intent on Halal cooperation.Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien (Center) and members of the working delegation took a souvenir photo with representatives of TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd.
In an interview with VNA reporters in Kuala Lumpur, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Malaysia Le Phu Cuong said the newly signed Letter of Intent is of great significance, supporting the recognition of the common goals of both sides in training, organizing exhibitions, seminars and conferences on Halal products in Vietnam and Malaysia. This activity not only helps to improve the understanding of businesses about Halal exports to the Malaysian market but also to the Muslim market in general. So far, only about 1,000 businesses exporting to the Malaysian market have Halal certificates for about 3,000 products. This agreement will help solve one of the major difficulties of Vietnamese businesses exporting to the Malaysian market, which is Halal certificates. Currently, the potential for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, including the fields of energy and Halal products, is still very large. However, in order for this cooperation to become more substantial and effective, the two sides need to further promote trade promotion activities, connect businesses to promote each other's products, and at the same time promote the search and cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths.
