On the morning of September 18 (local time), on the occasion of visiting Cuba and attending the G77 and China Summit, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha visited President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo at the Cuban National Assembly building in Havana.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on his first official visit to Cuba in his new position.

Comrade Esteban Lazo said that Vietnam's delegation to attend and speak at the G77 and China Summit is a manifestation of the special attention of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the traditional friendship and special cooperation between the two countries, contributing to the success of the Summit.

National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo expressed his special affection for President Ho Chi Minh and was impressed by the achievements that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have made in recent times. He said that the Cuban National Assembly has constantly learned and researched Vietnam's experience in innovation and opening up and has incorporated those experiences into the process of building and passing laws in Cuba.

Comrade Esteban Lazo expressed his joy at returning to Vietnam for the fourth time at the end of September 2023 to attend activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of Cuba's establishment of the Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam, the predecessor of today's Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association (September 1963) and the 50th anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro Ruz's first visit to Vietnam and to the Liberation Zone of South Vietnam (September 1973).

Congratulating Cuba on successfully hosting the G77 and China Summit, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha once again thanked the Cuban side for the warm and respectful reception given to the Vietnamese delegation.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people of Vietnam will never forget Cuba's wholehearted assistance to Vietnam in the past, as well as its current support.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always values, preserves and is determined to further deepen the traditional relationship of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba. Vietnam's consistent stance is to always stand in solidarity with and support Cuba, oppose and call for an end to the policy of blockade and embargo against Cuba. Vietnam will continue to make efforts with Cuba to overcome current difficulties.

Then, on the afternoon of September 18, at the Cuban Government headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha held talks with First Deputy Prime Minister and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz.

First Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz highly appreciated and thanked the multifaceted assistance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to Cuba, especially in the context that Cuba is facing many difficulties due to the US's increased embargo.

Comrade Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz said that the Cuba-Vietnam relationship is developing very well, demonstrated through many visits between the two countries in the past and in the coming time; affirmed the desire to further improve the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries through the Party, National Assembly and Government channels, as well as the desire to have more investment projects of Cuban enterprises in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and First Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz spent a lot of time discussing specific measures to continue promoting comprehensive, substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries, including continuing to coordinate to promote delegation exchanges and high-level contacts as well as between ministries/sectors and enterprises, further strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers also said that the two sides need to strengthen coordination to implement the results of the recent G77 and China Summit, especially in science, technology and innovation.

At the same time, efforts will be made to further enhance economic-trade-investment cooperation, especially effectively implementing aquaculture projects, corn development, rice production, and strengthening cooperation in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, thereby contributing to further tightening the special political relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

Also on September 18, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at Ho Chi Minh Park, visited and presented gifts to Alfredo Miguel Aguayo Primary School in the capital Havana.

Also attending, on the Vietnamese side, were representatives of the leaders of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Construction, Science and Technology, and Natural Resources and Environment.

On the Cuban side, there were Hero of the Republic of Cuba, President of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando González Llort, along with representatives of ministries, branches and the Havana city government.
