InterNations' annual Expat City Rankings are a report on the world's most liveable cities and countries. InterNations is the largest global community for people living and working abroad.
In this year's list of most livable cities, Valencia, Spain, took the top spot. Last year, Valencia was third and Malaga, also in Spain, was considered the most livable city.
This year's ranking is based on data from more than 12,500 expats living in 53 cities in 35 countries. The report evaluates cities according to several key indicators: quality of life; ease of settling in and integrating into life; personal finances; job satisfaction; ability to make friends...
At the top of the list, Valencia, known for its beautiful beaches, rich culture and affordable lifestyle, scored highly in the quality of life index. Expats living here praised the cheap public transport (96% positive) and the opportunities for leisure activities (95% positive). The city's safety also stood out, with no respondents worried about their personal safety.

Notably, Spain has many other cities that are also ranked highly, with a total of five cities in the top 25. Malaga and Alicante took second and third place respectively, making the top three cities all in this country.
It should be noted that the data was collected before the recent floods in many regions of Spain.
In Asia, Bangkok, Thailand, ranked 8th, with expats praising its low cost of living and welcoming atmosphere. Other high performers included three UAE cities – Ras Al-Khaimah (6th) as well as Abu Dhabi (9th) and Dubai (10th) – thanks to affordable housing, efficient governance and strong digital infrastructure.

Notably, in the ranking of the most livable countries, the top 10 only has Spain, a European country. The remaining 9 positions are occupied by countries in the Americas and Asia. InterNations said that there are 4 Southeast Asian countries in the top 10 — Indonesia (3rd), Thailand (6th), Vietnam (8th) and the Philippines (9th). Expats love these countries for their ease of settlement (Vietnam ranked 13th and the Philippines ranked 3rd) and personal finance (Vietnam ranked 1st).
Last year, Vietnam ranked 14th in the list of most livable countries for foreigners.
