(Dan Tri) - Vietnam is concerned about current developments and believes that South Korea will soon stabilize the situation and develop strongly.

On the afternoon of December 5, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the press asked spokesperson Pham Thu Hang to comment on the recent declaration of martial law by South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and its lifting about 6 hours later.

Responding to this issue, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that as a country with a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with South Korea, Vietnam is closely following current developments. Vietnam believes that South Korea will soon stabilize the situation and develop strongly in the coming time.

According to Ms. Hang, after receiving news that South Korea declared martial law, the Vietnamese representative agency contacted local authorities and Vietnamese associations to grasp the situation of citizens.

The Vietnamese Embassy then advised citizens to comply with the regulations and instructions of the host country, avoid crowded gatherings and keep in touch with the agency.

Vietnam continues to closely monitor the situation and take measures to protect citizens when necessary.

"The recent developments in Korea have not yet affected the Vietnamese community here. The Vietnamese community in Korea is still living, working and studying normally," the spokesperson said.

Previously, on the night of December 3, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law with measures such as banning the National Assembly, controlling the press, and banning protests.

South Korean soldiers and police then blocked off the entrance to the National Assembly building.

Immediately afterwards, the South Korean National Assembly held an emergency meeting on this issue, and all 190 members of parliament attending the meeting voted to pass a resolution asking President Yoon to lift martial law.

After the vote, soldiers withdrew from the parliament building.

The South Korean president later announced his approval of the National Assembly's request.

Foreign media reported that at a meeting convened by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on December 4, most cabinet ministers, including Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho, offered to resign en masse to take responsibility for President Yoon Suk-yeol's controversial martial law order.

Senior aides to President Yoon, including Chief of Staff Chung Jin-suk, National Security Adviser Shin Won-sik, Chief of Staff for Policy Sung Tae-yoon and seven other senior aides, have submitted their resignations.

South Korean police have opened an investigation into allegations that President Yoon Suk-yeol committed treason by declaring martial law.
