Vietnam-Laos sign scientific cooperation agreement

Under the direction of the Politburo, the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Laos, on the afternoon of June 30, in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, and the Lao National Institute of Economic and Social Sciences held a signing ceremony of a scientific cooperation agreement between the four parties.

The agreement aims to enhance scientific exchanges, coordinate and support each other in implementing research topics, organizing international scientific conferences; provide scientific arguments for building and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Laos and Vietnam; improve the capacity of staff working in management, science and teaching, meeting the requirements of domestic development and international integration; promote the research achievements in social sciences of each side.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council highly appreciated the signing of the scientific cooperation agreement between the parties.

He emphasized that the signing of this agreement is based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and special mutual assistance, stemming from the interests of social science development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic. This is an important basis and premise for the parties to contribute to promoting and nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam.

Through the signing of this Agreement, the parties will promote joint research; exchange and share experiences on theoretical and practical issues of national development and international integration of Vietnam and Laos; support each other in training in political theory, expertise, foreign languages and expert training; exchange scholars, coordinate in organizing scientific seminars and workshops with the participation of the parties; expand international cooperation and integration, support each other in participating in research networks in the region and the world; exchange information, documents, and research results of mutual interest; organize the translation and publication of Vietnamese social science works in Lao and Lao socio-economic scientific research topics into Vietnamese; exchange and cooperation between the Youth Unions of the parties. This cooperation agreement is valid until the end of 2027.

* Earlier, in the afternoon of the same day, in Hanoi, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang had a courtesy meeting with the senior leadership delegation of the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration and the Lao National Institute of Economic and Social Sciences.
