On October 10, at the Hoan Kiem Central Post Office at 75 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, the stamp exhibition of five countries - Vietnam 2024 with the theme "Moving Forward Together" was opened.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong, representatives of stamp associations, collectors and stamp lovers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and guests from Hong Kong (China).
The Five Countries - Vietnam Stamp Exhibition 2024 is organized with the aim of strengthening the cooperative relationship, friendship, and mutual understanding between stamp collectors of ASEAN countries; training to improve the level and skills of forming and upgrading stamp collections to participate in international and world stamp exhibitions for members of the Vietnam Stamp Association.
At the same time, create conditions to promote cooperation activities in the field of stamp collecting and share experiences to develop the movement.
Taking place over 3 days, from October 10 to October 12, the Five Countries - Vietnam 2024 stamp exhibition will display 71 collections corresponding to 300 frames of collectors from 5 ASEAN countries and invited guests from Hong Kong (China).
Of which, Vietnam displayed 27 collections, with 128 frames, Malaysia introduced 9 collections including 41 frames, Singapore had 7 collections in 27 frames, Thailand registered 9 collections with 37 frames, Indonesia registered 13 collections with 45 frames; and guest Hong Kong (China) registered 6 collections with 22 stamp frames.
This is the first time the Vietnam Philatelic Association has hosted a regional stamp exhibition, the Five-Country Stamp Exhibition - Vietnam 2024, with the sponsorship of the World Philatelic Federation, the support of the Asia-Pacific Philatelic Federation and the support of Vietnam Post Corporation.
Commenting on this exhibition as a new milestone of the stamp collecting movement in Vietnam on the path of development, Ms. Chu Thi Lan Huong, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Post, President of the Vietnam Stamp Association said: Since its establishment on December 30, 1960, the Vietnam Stamp Association has organized many stamp exhibitions at all levels, including 6 times organizing the National Stamp Exhibition - Vietstampex.
“The results of the national stamp exhibitions are a solid foundation for the Association to host international stamp exhibitions. The achievements of the Vietnam Stamp Association in recent years are an affirmation to international friends of the strong development of the Vietnam Stamp Association as well as the Association's ability to organize regional-scale exhibitions,” Ms. Chu Thi Lan Huong shared.
According to Ms. Chu Thi Lan Huong, currently the association as well as the domestic stamp collecting movement have the opportunity to achieve greater achievements in their development journey. Vietnam's stamp collections sent to participate in international and world stamp exhibitions have achieved many high results, many local stamp associations actively organize regular activities; exchange and learning sessions are also promoted, especially in schools.
The organizers said that the 3-day exhibition has 3 separate themes including "Hanoi Day", "Stamp Day" and "Young Collector Day", with corresponding activities suitable to the theme and commemorative stamps issued for each exhibition day to serve collectors.
Specifically, on October 10, the exhibition focused on promoting the meaning of the Capital Liberation Day, the cultural beauty of Hanoi past and present, and the growth and development of Hanoi through postage stamps on this topic.
On October 11, there will be activities to exchange experiences between domestic and international stamp collectors on knowledge of building collections for international stamp exhibitions; experiences in collecting rare items...; On October 12, there will be activities to guide young people to build collections for young people; and introduce stamp collections for the "Youth Collection" category.
In addition, within the framework of the exhibition opening ceremony, Vietnam Post introduced to stamp lovers at home and abroad two new stamp sets issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications, namely "Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union 1874 - 2024" and "Welcoming the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital 10/10/1954 - 10/10/2024".
