An ideal place for a long summer vacation, Vietnam is a favorite Asian destination chosen by European tourists for their summer vacation this year.
Digital travel platform Agoda on May 23 announced statistics from search data in April 2024 for check-in bookings in July and August (compared to the same period last year) showing that: Vietnam is the third fastest growing destination in Asia based on accommodation searches with a 66% increase in searches from European travelers.
Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and Nha Trang are the three most sought-after destinations in Vietnam by European tourists. These are three destinations that are rated by tourists as offering the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure and culture, making them ideal choices for tourists who want to make the most of their long summer vacation in Vietnam.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, commented: The increase in searches for Vietnam tourism compared to last year shows the growing attraction of Vietnam to European tourists. This is a good sign as more and more European tourists are choosing Vietnam as their summer vacation destination.
Looking at the Asian market as a whole, Agoda statistics recorded a 52% increase in accommodation searches by European travelers in April for their Asian travel itineraries this summer.
In April, Malaysia recorded an 89% increase in search volume, ranking first in Asia. Japan ranked second with a 71% growth compared to last year. Vietnam ranked third with a 66% growth in search volume.
This latest statistic from Agoda reflects the growing demand from the European tourist market for destinations in Vietnam that has been recorded in recent months.
The latest report from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in April noted that European tourist markets continued to grow strongly with a growth rate of 63.8% thanks to the effectiveness of the open visa policy applied from August 15, 2023.
Most markets are very positive, including major markets such as the UK (up 35.2%), France (up 41.7%), Germany (up 36.9%), and other non-traditional markets also growing rapidly such as Italy (up 77.4%), Spain (up 48.5%), Sweden (up 37.9%), Belgium (up 36.6%), Norway (up 39.8%), etc.
In the European market, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands and Spain are the countries with the most searches for Vietnam tourism in April.
In the 15th edition of the annual White Book (2024) published in January 2024, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) proposed many recommendations for Vietnam tourism, including continuing to propose “Visa exemption for all countries in the European Union”. EuroCham said that this group of visitors has middle and high incomes, including retirees who are looking for long vacations, love to immerse themselves in the culture and explore the diverse landscapes of Vietnam for a longer period of time.
