On August 28, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to Taiwan conducting live-fire drills in the waters surrounding Ba Binh, part of Vietnam's Truong Sa archipelago, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated:

Organizing live-fire drills in the waters surrounding Ba Binh in Vietnam's Truong Sa archipelago is a serious violation of Vietnam's territorial sovereignty over Truong Sa; threatening peace, stability, safety and maritime security; causing tension and further complicating the situation in the East Sea. Vietnam resolutely protests and demands that Taiwan not repeat similar violations.
