According to Mr. Lu, Ho Chi Minh City is well aware that, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the country's economy, the city needs to increase support for the business community to grow by creating conditions for businesses to produce high-quality and competitive goods and services, and also needs to organize trade promotion activities to help businesses promote their products and expand domestic and international consumption markets.
Therefore, Mr. Tran Phu Lu assessed that the Export Forum Program organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned to the City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) is an annual program that has been well received by the city's business community and received many positive reviews as an important information channel to support export orientation for businesses.
Along with that, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee highly appreciated the Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 program organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with the aim of promoting connections between distribution channels, foreign importers and domestic manufacturing and exporting enterprises. "This is a meaningful trade promotion activity to support the Vietnamese business community to have the opportunity to participate more deeply in the international supply chain, gradually expanding the production - consumption chain of products, goods and services with domestic and foreign partners, promoting Vietnamese products with quality and reputable brands, especially in the context of declining export markets in the first months of 2023" - Mr. Lu informed.
Effective implementation of activities
To effectively implement trade promotion activities of Ho Chi Minh City in 2023, the City's Trade and Investment Promotion Center has implemented the following key contents:
Firstly, organize domestic and international trade promotion activities; typically support the City's export enterprises to participate in international specialized fairs such as Food - Foodstuff, Handicraft and Wood Products Fairs... At the same time, research and understand the practical difficulties that enterprises encounter, the ability and capacity to meet export standards of enterprises when participating in the international supply chain. From there, advise and propose to the City People's Committee solutions to support enterprises to expand export markets and participate deeply in the international supply chain.
Second , focus on organizing and implementing many export promotion activities towards key markets and new, potential markets, supporting domestic enterprises to effectively utilize import tax policies from free trade agreements, especially new-generation free trade agreements CPTPP, EVFTA...
Third, strengthen trade connection activities between domestic enterprises and importers and major distribution channels in other countries, while focusing on supporting enterprises to connect with international and domestic e-commerce trading floors, considering this a distribution channel to effectively expand export markets, helping enterprises save costs, quickly grasp the needs and consumption trends of domestic and international customers.
Fourth , focus on implementing training programs and courses for businesses to improve their international economic integration skills; effectively exploit free trade agreements to expand export markets; carry out digital transformation in production and business management; support businesses in building brands, improving product quality and competitiveness, aiming for green production, green export and sustainable consumption.
Mr. Lu affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to accompany and support businesses to overcome difficulties and challenges in the context of declining export markets and will assign the City Trade and Investment Promotion Center to research and proactively coordinate with departments and offices - Ministry of Industry and Trade and promotion units, domestic and foreign business associations to organize more practical export promotion activities, meeting the needs of businesses to expand export markets, helping businesses participate deeply in the international supply chain.
In addition, Mr. Lu said that the Export Forum Program organized annually by Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 Program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade have the same purpose. The combination of the two programs will create double effects and optimize the effectiveness of export promotion activities and support businesses in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general. Therefore, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has agreed in principle to assign the City's Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) to coordinate with the Department of European - American Markets (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to co-organize the "Export Forum 2023" with the theme "Connecting international supply chains" within the framework of the Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 Program.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City co-chaired the event series "Connecting international supply chains" (Viet Nam International Sourcing 2023) from September 13-15, 2023 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City. |
