Vietnam successfully fulfills its role as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations

In the summary report, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang reviewed the large amount of work that the Vietnamese Delegation handled in April 2024 when assuming the role of APG Chair, especially coordinating and synthesizing proposals and information related to candidacy and election of member countries, promoting consensus on the Group's nomination to many important UN agencies and positions.

On April 29, in New York, the United States, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), chaired the April 2024 Summary Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group (APG) in his capacity as Chair of the Group. The Meeting was attended by representatives of the Delegations of more than 50 APG member countries to the UN.

In addition, as Chair of the APG, Vietnam also drafted, compiled opinions and presented a number of joint statements on behalf of the Group, including the first joint statement of the APG related to indigenous peoples at the high-level event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the World Conference on this topic.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives of many member countries of the Group thanked and highly appreciated Vietnam's management and coordination work in its role as APG Chair in April 2024.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang officially handed over the role of Group Chairman to the representative of the Vatuatu Permanent Mission to the United Nations./.
