On the afternoon of June 27, in The Hague, during a working trip to the Netherlands and co-chairing the 8th Session of the Vietnam-Netherlands Intergovernmental Committee on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management (IC8), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met and worked with Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, Special Envoy for Climate of the Netherlands.
Dutch Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme affirmed that Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha's visit is of great significance, coming on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973-2023), contributing to strengthening the determination to join hands to address global challenges, including climate change.
Welcoming the successful organization of IC8 by both sides with many substantive results, Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme also expressed his impression of Vietnam's dynamic socio-economic development in recent times.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the strong and substantive development of the Vietnam-Netherlands friendship and multifaceted cooperation over the past 50 years; affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting the Comprehensive Partnership with the Netherlands and wishes to work with the Netherlands to deepen the framework of the Strategic Partnership on climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture.
Welcoming the Netherlands' active and responsible role in promoting global cooperation on climate change, the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the Netherlands for successfully co-organizing the United Nations Conference on the Mid-Term Review of the Implementation of the Goals of the Decade of Action on "Water for Sustainable Development" for the 2018-2028 period held in New York (USA) in March this year with many practical results.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the experience and role of the Prince as a Special Envoy on Climate; hoped that the Prince would encourage Dutch businesses to transfer technology and invest in the fields of climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, energy transition, digital transformation, and smart infrastructure construction in Vietnam; and support the development of regulations and financial support to address climate change adaptation issues in Vietnam.

The Prince, Special Envoy of the Netherlands, highly appreciated Vietnam's strong commitments to responding to climate change, as well as Vietnam's active and responsible participation at the recent Summit on the New Global Financial Compact in France; emphasizing that he will continue to support Vietnam in implementing the Mekong Delta Planning, perfecting the legal framework on water resources management and energy transition.
On this occasion, the two sides discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern. The Dutch Prince highly appreciated Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization and settlement of disputes by peaceful means, based on international law.
Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of businesses, investors, and the Netherlands Development Bank.
Dutch partners wish to continue expanding their investment in Vietnam in the fields of renewable energy, clean water, equitable energy transition, mangrove and biodiversity restoration, and sustainable agricultural transformation in the Mekong Delta and some areas in the Central and Central Highlands of Vietnam.
