In Vietnam, there have been no commercial aviation accidents for the past 25 years. Vietnamese airlines have been assessed and granted operational safety certificates by the International Air Transport Association.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang spoke at the 2023 World Aviation Safety and Operations Conference on September 19, emphasizing that according to IATA, the aviation accident rate in 2022 will be 1.21 incidents per 1 million flights.
That’s down 48% from the previous 10 years. IATA member airlines fared even better, averaging 0.76 over the five years from 2018 to 2022.

Attending and giving a speech at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Tran Luu Quang said: “The Vietnamese Government always pays special attention to the aviation industry, considering the aviation industry as one of the driving forces of the economy, promoting investment, trade, and tourism development. The Government also attaches importance to building the image of Vietnamese airlines, which are safe, friendly, and ambassadors of the brand, culture, people, and country of Vietnam in the international arena."
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang assessed: “Vietnam's aviation industry has achieved positive results in the field of safety and operations, notably 25 consecutive years without commercial aviation accidents in the context of the aviation industry continuously growing by double digits for many years; achieving certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and achieving FAA CAT 1 aviation safety supervision capacity certification. All Vietnamese airlines have been assessed and granted operational safety certification by the International Air Transport Association".
Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines - affirmed: "We are constantly striving to ensure that Vietnam Airlines passengers and staff always take off on absolutely safe flights. The fact that Vietnam Airlines was chosen as the host airline this year shows the international community's trust in our safety and operational efficiency, as well as that of the entire Vietnamese aviation industry."
At the 2023 World Aviation Safety and Operations Conference, airlines and IATA signed the Safety Culture Charter; at the same time, they built dialogue content with airline leaders, aviation authorities as well as leaders of state management agencies; discussed the topic of building an aviation safety culture...
