(Dan Tri) - In celebration of International Education Week, the US Mission to Vietnam highlighted bilateral cooperation to develop higher education and the workforce in Vietnam.
During the event, information from the annual report of the Institute of International Education (IIE) was also released, showing that the US continues to be the world's leading destination for international students.
Nearly 50% of Vietnamese students studying in the US study STEM fields (Illustration: Best Colleges).
The number of Vietnamese students studying at US colleges and universities will also continue to increase, reaching 22,066 students in the 2023-2024 academic year. If all levels of education are included, this number will reach more than 31,000 international students. Vietnam is currently the leading country in ASEAN in terms of the number of students studying in the US.
Specifically, nearly 50% of Vietnamese students studying in the US major in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (abbreviated as STEM).
This will contribute to realizing Vietnam's goals of developing human resources in high-tech industries.
US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper emphasized: "When international students and scholars come to the United States and when American students study abroad, they bring their talents, vision, and culture to the communities where they study.
When they work together to advance knowledge and research activities, they spark innovation and foster cross-border connections.”
