Vietnam to host three major continental and regional women's football tournaments in 2025

Hosting many major tournaments at the same time not only affirms the prestige and organizational capacity of the host country, but also opens up great opportunities for women's teams to gain experience and go further on the continental football map.

Accordingly, the 2026 Asian Women's Championship qualifiers (Group E) will take place from June 29 to July 5 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), with the participation of the Vietnamese women's team and three opponents: UAE, Guam, and Maldives.

Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will gather from May 6 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, before going abroad for training in June, to improve their expertise and tactics.

At the 2022 Asian Women's Championship held in India, the Vietnamese women's team for the first time in history passed the group stage and won the right to enter the quarterfinals. This tournament is an important stepping stone for the Vietnamese women's team to win a historic ticket to attend the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's U19 Championship will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The tournament is not only a place for young players to compete, but also an opportunity to spread regional solidarity and promote the image of Vietnam to international friends.

At the 2023 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship, the Vietnam U19 Women's Team won the runner-up position. With a talented young squad and investment in recent years, the Vietnam U19 Women's Team is expected to maintain and promote good results in the tournament.

The remaining tournament, the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Championship qualifiers, will take place from August 2 to August 10 in Hanoi. The draw results for the tournament will be announced on April 28.

After the historic feat of qualifying for the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship in Uzbekistan for the first time, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team is carrying great faith and expectations from fans. With home field advantage and high morale, the young Vietnamese girls are expected to continue writing new history pages for the country's football.
