The visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam demonstrates Vietnam's high regard for developing the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China. General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife are about to visit China. Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung said that this is the first visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam in his new position at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. The Head of the Central External Relations Commission emphasized that Vietnam wishes to work with China to promote the implementation of high-level joint agreements, especially those reached during the historic visit of late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in 2022 and the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in 2023. The spirit is to strengthen and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and build a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

The joint statement of the visit set out the “6 more” direction including: Higher political trust; more substantive defense and security cooperation; deeper substantive cooperation; more solid social foundation; closer multilateral coordination; better control and resolution of disagreements. The Head of the Central External Relations Commission shared that within the framework of the visit, General Secretary and President To Lam and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will exchange views at the highest strategic level of the two Parties and two countries; assess the relationship between the two Parties and two countries, especially the results achieved in implementing high-level common agreements between key leaders of the two countries. These include agreements reached during the visit of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in 2022 and the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in 2023. Joining the delegation, senior leaders of ministries, sectors and localities will discuss new cooperation contents and mechanisms in the coming time. Along with that, there will be an exchange of measures and contents to implement the 2023 joint statement on the direction of "6 more" cooperation in 6 fields. It is very important that the two sides will evaluate and discuss the implementation of high-level agreements; discuss the proposed directions; and add more contents, contents and measures to make the relationship between the two countries increasingly solid, comprehensive and practical. Economy, trade and investment have developed strongly. China is one of Vietnam's largest investment and trade partners. Many difficulties have been resolved and removed in recent times. Defense and security cooperation has developed in many forms; many new mechanisms have been established and implemented. People-to-people exchanges have taken place not only between organizations and mass associations but also between people of the two countries. Immediately after the Covid-19 pandemic, the trend of Chinese tourists to Vietnam increased again and more Vietnamese people traveled to China.
