The announcement by aviation data analytics company Cirium - a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) shows that Vietnam Airlines ranked 6th in the top 10 airlines with the highest on-time rate in Asia - Pacific in 2024 with an on-time flight rate of 76.7%.

Vietnam Airlines ranked 6th in the top 10 most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region.
In this group are the world's leading airlines such as Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, etc. Previously in 2023, Vietnam Airlines also entered the Top 10 most punctual airlines in Asia - Pacific with the 9th position.
According to Cirium, 2024 was a difficult year for airlines around the world, facing widespread engine failures, disruptions in the supply chain of aircraft parts and supplies, shortages of aviation human resources, and extreme and unseasonal weather. Despite these challenges, airlines and airports worked hard to ensure their passengers had a safe and on-time trip.
Cirium's report ranks flights based on On-Time Arrival Performance, which is a flight that lands and taxis to the airport parking lot within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. The company's experts have compiled statistics based on data from 600 different sources of real-time flights. This data ensures accuracy and objectivity when updated from civil aviation authorities, airports, aviation service providers and published flight schedules. In Vietnam, aviation authorities often use On-time Departure Performance for statistics. This is different from Cirium's report.
Domestically, according to a report by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is also the airline with the highest on-time performance rate in 2024, at approximately 82%. This result is significantly higher than the average of 73.7% of the entire Vietnamese aviation industry.
According to Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, to maintain and ensure the on-time index, Vietnam Airlines has implemented a series of synchronous solutions such as quickly receiving more aircraft to increase transportation capacity; optimizing aircraft maintenance through focusing on daily technical inspections; focusing on adjusting aircraft operating time, optimizing operating time during the day and increasing flights in the afternoon and evening.
In response to the impact of bad weather, the airline always has a response scenario for possible situations. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines proactively adjusts schedules at airports affected by unusual weather developments to limit waiting and diverting flights. The airline also strictly implements notification when flights change schedules via email, text messages, phone calls, website and fanpage to customers.
In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines will continue to optimize operations and exploitation, focusing on applying modern technologies to maintain and improve on-time performance.
