US users using TikTok for news have increased to 43% compared to 22% in 2022.

Pew's analysis of Americans' news consumption, based on a survey of 8,842 adults, found that 67% of those surveyed use a news app or website.

Facebook is the most popular social media platform for news, with 30% of Americans saying they regularly read news on the platform, followed by YouTube at 26%, Instagram at 16% and TikTok at 14%.

Vietnam currently ranks 6th among the 10 countries with the most TikTok users in the world. According to DataReportal, as of February 2023, Vietnam had about 49.9 million users of this social network.

As reported by VietNamNet , in September 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications announced the conclusion of a comprehensive inspection of TikTok's operations, showing that the platform uses a method of distributing and recommending content based on users' interactions, preferences, and interests, leading to illegal content easily spreading quickly.

A representative of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said: “After announcing the inspection results, we worked once with representatives of TikTok Singapore, TikTok Vietnam and TikTok Vietnam Company.”

As a result, the report of the Ministry of Information and Communications' office noted that in October 2023, the TikTok platform blocked and removed 53 contents that violated Vietnamese law, reaching a rate of 95%.

The rate of blocking and removing content upon request from Vietnamese management agencies of this application is also higher than Facebook (90%) and YouTube (92%).
