On the morning of June 4, within the framework of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's official visit to Vietnam, right after the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents and the opening of two direct flights between the two countries.

The University of Western Sydney (UWS) and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) have exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on the provision of 70 scholarships for Vietnamese and regional students to study at UWS's Vietnam campus.

Also at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese witnessed the handover of the Certificate of Inauguration of Vietjet Air's Ho Chi Minh City - Brisbane direct flight route and the announcement of Vietnam Airlines' Hanoi - Melbourne direct flight route. Thus, after Melbourne and Sydney, Brisbane is the third city in Australia that Vietjet has direct flights between the two countries. This is also the first route connecting Vietnam with Brisbane city and Queensland state of Australia.
As for Vietnam Airlines, from June 15, the airline officially launched a new direct flight between Hanoi and Melbourne (Australia's second largest city) using Airbus A350 aircraft with a frequency of 2 flights/week on Thursdays and Sundays every week. Vietnam Airlines is the airline with the most direct flights with the highest frequency between Vietnam and Australia, operating 4 direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney and Melbourne with a total frequency of up to 18 flights/week.

On this occasion, Vietjet also announced the opening of the Ho Chi Minh City - Brisbane route from June 16 with 2 round trips per week using modern large A330 aircraft, contributing to promoting trade between Vietnam and Brisbane, Queensland and Australia in general. Flights will take off from Ho Chi Minh City at 10:50 (local time) and land in Brisbane at 21:55 (local time). In the opposite direction, flights will depart from Brisbane airport at 23:30 (local time) and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 5:10 the following day (local time). Vietjet plans to open more routes connecting cities in Vietnam with Australia, while expanding the connecting flight network from Australia to countries in the region and around the world.
