On the afternoon of September 12, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, together with the French Embassy in Vietnam and the French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, held a ceremony to commemorate and exhibit photos about the life and career of scientist Louis Pasteur.
Leaders of the Ministry of Health, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and the French Consulate General in Vietnam viewed the exhibition about the life and career of scientist Louis Pasteur.
This is an opportunity to pay tribute, remember and honor the contributions of scientist Louis Pasteur to the science of humanity in general and Vietnam in particular.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong expressed gratitude to generations of scientists from the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City who have devoted themselves to the country's health sector. She hoped that the staff, civil servants and workers of the institute would continue to strive and contribute to the cause of science and disease prevention to protect, care for and improve people's health.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City belongs to a system of 33 Pasteur Institutes in the world. With a history of formation and development of more than 130 years, the institute plays a particularly important role in the fields of scientific research, disease prevention, and community health care.
In the context that the world and Vietnam are still facing many risks and challenges due to the emergence of new dangerous infectious diseases, it shows the importance of scientific research, health care and international cooperation to provide timely and effective solutions to prevent the spread and outbreak of epidemics. From there, proactively take measures to respond to epidemic situations to quickly prevent and control the epidemic well.
Also at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Vu Trung, Director of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the unit is one of the first Pasteur Institutes in the world - established only after the Pasteur Institute in Paris, in 1891.
According to Dr. Nguyen Vu Trung, over the past 130 years, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City has inherited and promoted the achievements of scientist Louis Pasteur. Especially in scientific research, applying science and technology into practice to prevent diseases and protect people's health.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien - former Minister of Health, former Director of the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, Honorary President of the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association - said that in the system of 33 Pasteur Institutes in the world, Vietnam is the only country with 3 Pasteur Institutes (Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang and Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology).
The Pasteur Institute in Paris has helped the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City build and establish an HIV testing laboratory and detect the first HIV infection case in Vietnam; train and transfer techniques to many other laboratories at the institute. In the general health sector, the French Government has helped train more than 3,000 hospital residents, contributing to the training of high-quality human resources to provide health care for the people.
