On the afternoon of February 7, continuing the 42nd session, the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) considered and passed a Resolution approving the proposal of the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy on the working apparatus of the Supreme People's Procuracy (SPP).

Presenting the Proposal on the proposal to approve the working apparatus of the Supreme People's Procuracy, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy Ho Duc Anh said that on January 12, 2025, the Central Party Office issued Official Dispatch No. 13061 informing the Politburo's opinion agreeing with the review, arrangement, and restructuring of the organization in the People's Procuracy sector, including the organization of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

On that basis, the Supreme People's Procuracy proposed that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issue a Resolution approving the working apparatus of the Supreme People's Procuracy. Accordingly, it will terminate operations, merge and rearrange a number of Department-level units under the Supreme People's Procuracy with similar functions and tasks or of small scale.

Specifically, merging the Department of Prosecution and Investigation Supervision of Economic Cases (Department 3) and the Department of Prosecution and Investigation Supervision of Corruption and Position Cases (Department 5); the name of the unit after the merger is "Department of Prosecution and Investigation Supervision of Economic and Corruption Cases"; terminating the activities of the Department of Emulation and Commendation, transferring tasks to the Office of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

Merging Hanoi University of Procuracy and the School of Training and Fostering Procuracy in Ho Chi Minh City, the name of the unit after the merger is "University of Procuracy", with a Branch of the University of Procuracy in Ho Chi Minh City on the basis of building a project to restructure the School of Training and Fostering Procuracy in Ho Chi Minh City.

Restructure and rearrange the two units of the Department of Legislation and Science Management and the Procuracy Magazine into two units: the Department of Legislation and the Institute of Procuracy Science.

The Supreme People's Procuracy also recommended that some Department-level units under the Supreme People's Procuracy have rather long unit names that are not very general, so the names of some units under the Supreme People's Procuracy should be revised to ensure brevity and generality, while still maintaining the functions and tasks of the units and having certain similarities with the Supreme People's Court and the Ministry of Public Security.

Examining this content, Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Judiciary Committee Le Thi Nga said that regarding the proposal to end operations, merge and rearrange a number of Department-level units under the Supreme People's Procuracy with similar functions and tasks or of small scale, the Standing Committee of the Judiciary Committee agreed.

Regarding the proposal to edit the names of some units under the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Standing Committee of the Judicial Committee agreed to ensure brevity and generality while still fully reflecting the functions and tasks of the unit.

In addition, the majority of opinions of the Standing Committee of the Judiciary approved the draft Resolution submitted by the Supreme People's Procuracy. With 100% of the members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly present voting in favor, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly passed the Resolution approving the proposal of the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy on the working apparatus of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

Concluding this content, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh assessed that the working apparatus of the Supreme People's Procuracy was rearranged in accordance with legal regulations and the conclusion of the Politburo, including 24 units, including merging and rearranging a number of Department-level units under the Supreme People's Procuracy, reducing 3 Department-level focal points, and amending the names of a number of units under the Supreme People's Procuracy, ensuring brevity and generality while still maintaining the functions and tasks of a number of units.
