Video of pilot ejecting from plane crash in France

The incident occurred during a training exercise of the Patrouille de France aerobatic team in Saint-Dizier.

Video shows the plane descending rapidly, with one pilot falling with the jet before parachuting close to the ground. The French Air Force team confirmed that both pilots and a passenger had ejected safely and were conscious. French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu also confirmed the crash, saying rescue teams had been deployed.

According to The Sun, one pilot was taken to hospital. Meanwhile, The Mirror reported that one plane crashed into a fuel depot, while the other crashed into a canal. Other video footage showed blue, white and red smoke – the symbol of France – rising from the scene. The cause of the crash is not yet clear.

Patrouille de France is the famous aerobatic team of the French Air Force, officially operating since 1953. The team consists of 9 pilots, specializing in performing performances at important events, including the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The city of Saint-Dizier had previously announced plans for the Patrouille de France to conduct training exercises from March 24 to March 28, with drills taking place twice a day. A nighttime exercise was also scheduled for March 26 from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m., but it is unclear whether it will take place as planned.
