The film received much praise for its efforts to recreate images of feudal Vietnam, from the setting to the meticulous ancient costumes, as well as the impressive acting of the cast. Director Victor Vu also said that he invested carefully in costumes and settings, bringing poetic yet majestic scenes of Vietnam's mountains and rivers in the Northern region.
