According to Deadline, Victor Vu's film will be the "blockbuster" of the April 30th theater season this year.

The US news site Deadline has just posted the following information: "Exclusive: After making a number of critically acclaimed romantic films, leading Vietnamese filmmaker Victor Vu will return to the horror genre with Detective Kien: Headless Horror, a big-budget mystery horror film set in historical times."

Deadline rates this as Victor Vu's "dinosaur" movie for this April 30th theater season.

As one of Vietnam's most prominent filmmakers, Victor Vu has most recently made a series of compelling romantic dramas such as "The Last Wife" (2023), a period drama about a woman forced into an arranged marriage with a wealthy man; "Blue Eyes" (2019) and "I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass" (2015).

"Detective Kien: The Headless Case" - the film marks his 20-year journey with cinema and is his return to his forte. The frames filmed in Tuyen Quang and Cao Bang show Victor Vu's aesthetic sense, combined with the ancient elements that have attracted audiences since "The Last Wife".

The film is set in the Nguyen Dynasty about 200 years ago.

"Detective Kien: The Headless Case" is a spiritual - thriller - crime solving film. The main cast includes: Quoc Huy as detective Kien, Dinh Ngoc Diep as Hai Man, Quoc Anh as Thac, Anh Pham as Tuyet and Minh Anh as Nga.
