Why is VinFast in the top 100 most influential companies in the world?

VinFast has just been included in the 'TIME100 Company' list by TIME magazine, the top 100 most influential companies in the world in 2024.

The famous American magazine ranked the company in the "Disrupters" group - a group of companies that make their mark thanks to a new model that is not common in the market and called the Vietnamese car company "An EV splash".

Inspiration for the future of humanity

On May 30, the US magazine TIME announced the list of the top 100 most influential companies in the world in 2024. Among them, electric car company VinFast became the first Vietnamese enterprise in history to be honored in this powerful list.

Appearing alongside the company on this inspiring list are "giants" such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, TikTok, Nvidia; big names in the car industry such as BMW, Toyota or even AI startups that have changed the global technology industry such as OpenAI, Anthropic...

To compile the list, TIME's team of editors reviewed proposals and applications and surveyed contributors and reporters around the world. The magazine also sought advice from a team of independent experts and organizations. The "TIME100 Companies" are based on a comprehensive set of criteria, from capacity and impact to creativity, ambition and success of the selected companies.

Writing about VinFast on TIME, journalist Charlie Campbell recalled that the Vietnamese car company once made a splash in the world with its lightning-fast factory construction speed in just 21 months. To have the most objective view of the company's development process, the writer visited the production complex in Hai Phong in 2022 as well as closely followed the company over the years.

Impressed by the company's production scale and miraculous developments, especially when VFS's stock price skyrocketed 700% in just the first 2 weeks after the company was listed on the US stock exchange, TIME called VinFast "An EV splash".

America's leading prestigious magazine rated the Vietnamese car company's battery-leasing electric vehicle business model as "unique".

"Backed by Vietnam's richest billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, the company is building factories in North Carolina, Indonesia and India, " TIME wrote, citing Pham Nhat Vuong's strong determination with the company at the annual general meeting of shareholders held in April this year.

According to the magazine, the companies on the list, led by talented leaders, can bring new models and inspiration to the future of humanity.

According to economist Pham Chi Lan, VinFast has made history for Vietnamese businesses. "This event is even more special in the context of the world market going through a period of intense fluctuations and fierce competition in many fields, especially the electric car industry," the veteran expert commented.

Sharing the same view, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, also said that this is good news not only for the VinFast brand but also for Vietnam.

" Although VinFast is not yet a big name in the world, the way they face market challenges and accept the big global game is clearly worthy of recognition ," Dr. Tran Dinh Thien shared.

"First, a company or corporation from an economically developing country has broken out into the global playing field, that is a breakthrough. Second, the breakthrough is also associated with the company's choice of technology - a very challenging and very new field.
