Impressive opening sales
Officially released in Vietnam on May 26, the movie "Doraemon: Nobita and the Utopia" by director Doyama Takumi has earned more than 42.4 billion VND, as of the morning of June 2, according to Box Office Vietnam. The movie is currently the second highest-grossing among Doraemon movies shown in our country.

The film is also ranked 2nd at the domestic box office, surpassing the achievements of two Hollywood blockbusters, "Fast X" and "The Little Mermaid".
Of which, "Fast X" was released before "Doraemon: Nobita and the Ideal Land in the Sky" and is currently earning more than 80 billion VND. Meanwhile, "The Little Mermaid" was also released on May 26 but has only reached more than 7.7 billion VND.
According to Variety, "The Little Mermaid" cost $250 million to produce. Therefore, the film needs to continue to attract audiences worldwide to break even. Internationally, the film earned $68.3 million from 51 markets.
And "Fast X" with a budget of 340 million USD must earn at least 850 million USD to start making a profit.
Currently, theaters such as CGV and Lotte are ranking "Doraemon: Nobita and the Ideal Land in the Sky" the highest with more than 2,100 screenings.

"Doraemon: Nobita's Utopia in the Sky" is the 42nd film in the Doraemon cartoon franchise.
The film is the story of the adventures of Doraemon, Nobita and a group of close friends to Paradapia - an island shaped like a crescent moon in the sky.
The film's script and visuals were highly appreciated.
In this ideal land where everyone is perfect, the best friends meet Sonya the cat robot - an all-powerful robot cat.
However, after a short trip, Doraemon and Nobita gradually realize strange things around Paradapia. The group fights together with the villains, revealing the mystery behind the perfect curtain of this place.
The new film is written by famous screenwriter Kosawa Ryota, who wrote famous works such as: "Legal High", "The last shot in the bar" or "The confidence man JP"...
Notably, both director Doyama Takumi and screenwriter Kosawa Ryota are participating in a Doraemon film for the first time. Both bring modern yet profound perspectives, breathing new life into the familiar series.
Sharing about this project, screenwriter Kosawa revealed: “When I received the offer to write the script for the film, I was so worried that I thought about turning it down. But then scenes from my childhood flooded my mind.
Fujiko F Fujio is someone I admire greatly, Doraemon is a legacy left by an unparalleled genius, and there is no greater honor than to join the team of so many creators who have protected and inherited that legacy.
So I decided to start my own adventure, trying my best to write for us of the past, and for the children of today.”

In its home country of Japan, the film premiered in March and received positive reviews from audiences. The film scored 3.9/5.0 on the review site Eiga.com and 4.1/5.0 on the review site Yahoo Movies, ranking among the highest-rated films in the series.
