Sharing about journalism and writing at the Journalists' Book Week at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association , the Vietnam Publishing Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association and Thanh Nien Newspaper (sponsored by the Vietnam Record Organization and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Technical Services Corporation), journalist Duong Thanh Truyen said: "When it comes to journalists' books, there are many types of books. They can be poetry, prose, or research. If they are research books, the journalist has become a researcher, can be called a scholar, and that is a different type of labor. In addition, there are journalistic works collected into a book, which are still purely journalistic works. Here we are talking about the common genre between journalism and literature, such as journalist Ho Huy Son writing essays, journalist Trung Nghia writing travelogues".
Journalist Duong Thanh Truyen (also known by the pen name Duyen Truong) is the author of Memories of Tears and Laughter (essay), Stories of Boys and Girls (essay), On the Way Home Remembering Full (travel diary), Heart Has the Shape of a Household Registration Book (chat), Uncle Ho's Will - a Unique Vietnamese Textbook (monograph, reprinted for the fifth time). His latest essay is titled Beginning with Leaving, published in April 2023 and is now ready for reprint, just under 3 months after its release.
Journalists writing books exchange session with the participation of journalists: Duong Thanh Truyen, Nguyen Khac Cuong, Ho Huy Son, Trung Nghia
Readers and journalists at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street on the morning of June 18.
Participants listened to the concerns and thoughts of journalists about the writing profession.
According to Mr. Duong Thanh Truyen: "Journalists always live in the current events, live in the flow of information. Information becomes material or inspires emotions for journalists, urging journalists to write works. That information can be news stories, stories about life, about people. All of them bring up many profound things that make us think and from there, journalists record stories into books, so that they have a longer lasting vitality, a longer life than an article. Working as a journalist, I never feel bored. Every day I get to listen to many stories from different sources of information, all of which are very interesting. Journalists always live in information, immersed in information like that. When working as a journalist, we have the opportunity to look at issues from many dimensions, many angles. The profession helps journalists develop a way of looking at life without bias, without prejudice so that they can tell stories in a multi-dimensional way for everyone."

Launching Journalists' Book Week: A breath of fresh air at the city's book street
Sympathizing with Mr. Truyen, journalist Nguyen Khac Cuong said: "Writing for newspapers or writing books are the same in the word "writing". The important thing in a work is that we must write in a way that is attractive to readers. Journalistic works often use the language of events. From reality, journalists have the material to create typical stories, general in nature, and convey a larger message, from which the book is formed. Actually, in the process of writing, I just write naturally, without distinction. But until now I realize that in my works there is also the appearance of a journalist".
Sharing at the exchange session about writing, journalist Trung Nghia affirmed: "Journalists have the advantage of being able to travel a lot and have good writing skills. Thanks to traveling a lot, journalists have many experiences, many things they see and hear about the land, people, and culture. All of these things provide materials for journalists to collect and write into books with concise and condensed topics and content."
Writer and journalist Luu Dinh Trieu asked questions to the guests.

How are the writing styles of journalism and book writing different? In response to this question, journalist Ho Huy Son said: "There is no need to separate journalism from book writing. Sometimes, the journalistic qualities in literary works and the fusion of literature and journalism will create the uniqueness of the work. As a journalist in charge of publishing, I am fortunate to live with books and read many books. I am very grateful to journalism because it is journalism that helps me live with literature and nurture my passion."
