At the end of April 12, information from traders, businesses and farmers showed that the price of live pigs traded in all three regions tended to increase steadily with an increase of 1,000 - 1,200 VND/kg compared to the previous day.

Specifically, in the North, the price of live pigs increased by around 1,000 VND, to 67,000 - 69,000 VND/kg depending on the locality. Of which, Phu Tho recorded the highest price in the region. The remaining localities were at a common level of 67,000 - 68,000 VND/kg.

In the Central and Central Highlands regions, the price of live pigs was also recorded to increase by VND1,000 to a common level of VND66,500 - 68,500/kg. In particular, many provinces in the North and Central Central regions recorded the lowest price in the region, commonly VND66,500 - 68,500/kg.

The South Central and Southern Central Highlands regions have higher prices, commonly 71,000 - 72,000 VND/kg.

In the Southern region alone, pig prices are reported to have increased by about 1,000 - 1,200 VND/kg compared to yesterday, to a common level of 72,000 - 74,500 VND/kg depending on the locality and type of pig.

Thus, the price of live pigs in the South is the highest in the country.

At wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City, due to the vegetarian season, the demand for pork on weekends is relatively slow, the amount of pork imported has decreased slightly, and the transaction price at the market is relatively stable.

Specifically, the price of pork (slaughtered, headless) fluctuates commonly between 83,000 - 87,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

At many supermarkets, stores and retail markets, retail pork prices have remained stable over the past few days, with spare ribs at 220,000 - 260,000 VND/kg, pork belly at 155,000 - 195,000 VND/kg, pork chops at 110,000 - 130,000 VND/kg, thigh and armpit meat at 130,000 - 150,000 VND/kg...

Mr. Nguyen Kim Doan - Vice President of Dong Nai Livestock Association - said that due to the level of influence from disease factors, supply and demand, market regulation from different large livestock and retail companies... leading to the difference in pig prices between regions.

"After falling from the peak of VND84,000/kg, the price of live pigs is gradually stabilizing. The current price is also relatively reasonable when looking at the supply and demand factor.

In the near future, prices are unlikely to fluctuate much if they are not strongly affected by factors such as imported meat and disease developments...", Mr. Doan commented.
