On the morning of January 19, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien - Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) said that the unit had just drawn up an administrative violation record with the driver of the car carrying students violating alcohol concentration.

Specifically, at around 2:45 p.m. on January 18, the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 6 led by Major Le Van Dong was on duty to control alcohol concentration violations at the Pham Hung - Nguyen Hoang intersection.

Driver H. violated the alcohol concentration level at 0.191 mg/L of breath.

Through checking the car with license plate 29B - 085.XX, the authorities discovered that driver NVH (born in 1966, residing in Xuan La, Tay Ho district) violated regulations on alcohol concentration (0.191 mg/L of breath).

The bus was carrying 10 elementary school students. The driver said he had drunk half a glass of beer while sitting with friends at noon.

The working group has drawn up a record and temporarily detained the vehicle. According to the amended Decree 123, the driver will be fined from 6-8 million VND, have his driving license revoked for 11 months and have his vehicle temporarily detained for 7 days.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien, the closer to the end of the year, the more festivals, year-end parties, and year-end summaries take place, leading to an increase in alcohol violations. Therefore, the authorities do not have a fixed time frame to handle violations, but continuously conduct surprise checks on drivers participating in traffic to promptly detect and prevent violations of driving under the influence of alcohol, helping people celebrate Tet happily and safely.
