SATRIA-1 – Indonesia's most powerful telecommunications satellite in Asia with a capacity of 150 Gbps – is scheduled to be launched into orbit on June 19th using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida (USA) and become operational in early 2024.

Mr. Ismail, Director General of Postal and Information Equipment and Resources at the Indonesian Ministry of Information and Communications , stated that SATRIA-1's service will be free and complement existing telecommunications infrastructure by providing direct connections to end-user Internet devices without the need for base transceiver stations (BTS). With 11 ground stations, SATRIA-1 primarily provides internet access for public services, focusing on education, healthcare, local governments, the military, and police in remote areas. The total cost of the SATRIA-1 project is $540 million, $90 million higher than the initial estimate.
