Musician Dinh Trung Can, Director of the Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center, said that the number of members in 2023 will increase by 398 authors. The total number of authorized members at VCPMC to date is 5,782 authors and copyright owners.

Of the total royalties that VCPMC has collected, more than 344 billion VND, the music application website sector accounts for the largest proportion (more than 260 billion VND). In addition, there are live concert performances (nearly 15 billion VND), online demo copying (more than 13 billion VND), royalties from international CMOs (nearly 15 billion VND)....

The amount of royalties collected in Vietnam (excluding revenue from international CMOs) increased by about 29% compared to 2022; exceeding the target by 10%. The amount distributed and paid to copyright owners over 4 periods was more than 305 billion VND, an increase of 90% compared to 2022.

Although the performance scene across the country is still quite flourishing, vibrant and developing, revenue from the performance sector is still low, accounting for only about 4% of VCPMC's total revenue.

VCPMC said that currently, the Center often faces difficulties because many performance organizers still delay paying royalties, abuse the agreement mechanism to intentionally obscure the "exclusive" rights of authors as prescribed by law as well as avoid the obligations of the user, causing difficulties and costs in processing costs, time and human resources of VCPMC.

Typically, some programs such as: BlackPink , Mat Biec - Tinh ca Ngo Thuy Mien, BamBam The 1st World Tour Area 52... even though the agreement was extended, they still paid before the performance time; and programs: May Sai Gon, May Lang Thang (Da Lat, Hanoi), Lululola... were not willing to pay royalties and currently the legal department of VCPMC is preparing a lawsuit.

Up to now, the legal department of the two regions of VCPMC has handled a total of 34 lawsuits on copyright infringement, intellectual property disputes, and contract disputes; 20 out of 40 cases have been resolved, and at the same time, it continues to speed up the warning of violations and file lawsuits for subsequent violations.

According to VCPMC, the use of music products on digital platforms and social networks is increasing, which raises the issue of copyright protection organizations. Therefore, to improve the efficiency of data processing, VCPMC and regional CMOs chaired by JASRAC are planning to build a Data Exchange System.

VCPMC signed cooperation agreements with platforms such as Youtube, Facebook, Tiktok, Apple, Spotify... to build a music channel dedicated to each musician, not only maximizing revenue from exploiting works, but also earning remuneration from exploiting recordings invested in and produced by the musicians themselves.

This is also one of the efforts of VCPMC to accompany members in supporting the dissemination and promotion of works. Thereby reviewing and detecting cases of copyright infringement, dissemination in the digital environment. Sending warnings and reflecting violations to websites, music applications, recordings, links, online channels that infringe copyright.
