Duc Linh this season not only has fruit gardens laden with the sweet aroma of fruit, vast fields of ripe golden rice, but when coming to this mountainous district, people also want to stroll on large ponds and lakes to enjoy the fragrant pink lotus flowers wafting in the wind. It is the lotus blooming season, so this is the best time for us to explore and enjoy the cool fragrance of pink lotus.
The late rains made the golden fields of Vo Xu town even more fragrant with the ripe rice season. Early in the morning, farmers were busy preparing for a bountiful harvest. Rice prices were high, so everyone's face was radiant with joy. In the distance, under the rows of green areca trees, was a bright pink lotus pond showing off its budding buds swaying in the wind. A peaceful and heartbreakingly beautiful countryside scene.
Our next stop on the journey to enjoy the pink lotus is the nearly 15-hectare lotus pond of Mr. Le Dinh in Nam Chinh commune, Duc Linh district. It is the season so the pink lotus is blooming in a corner of the sky, immense. Mr. Dinh said: This year the rain is slow, the sun is strong, so the pink lotus will be harvested longer than every year. People who enjoy the color of the flowers do not have to rush because they are afraid that the rainy season will flood the La Nga river. If you want to enjoy the color of the flowers, you have to wake up early, when the sun has just appeared. At that time, the flower buds are just blooming and still have drops of morning dew.
Duc Linh District is the locality with the largest lotus pond area in Binh Thuan with nearly 300 hectares of land along the fields north and south of La Nga River. In the lotus blooming season, the fields south of the river are more beautiful than a painting. Those are immense rice fields along the river carrying heavy alluvium. And those are lush green gardens full of fruit interspersed with shy pink lotus ponds nestled at the foot of Bao Dai Hill.
We went to the northern river fields to find Mr. Hoang Xuan Hoa's lotus pond in Sung Nhon commune. This is the most beautiful lotus pond here. The lake is about 5 hectares wide, curved like embracing the immense rice fields. Mr. Hoa said: The family has been growing lotus for more than 10 years on the family's pond area. Every year at the beginning of the third lunar month, the lotus begins to bloom and by June, when the water rises, the lotus season ends. The beautiful scenery of the lotus pond goes through many stages, such as the shy beginning of the season, the middle of the blooming season, making it difficult for viewers to walk. In the blooming season, seen from afar, the lotus pond is in full bloom like a pink silk strip curving around the golden rice fields. The sound of the wind blowing and the birds singing together create a peaceful and beautiful natural scene.
We were taken on a boat to cruise on the lotus pond to feel the peace of the peaceful and beautiful countryside. The small boat swayed and rocked, gently drifting us through each lotus leaf and bud. The early blooming flowers had spread their petals wide, showing off their beautiful bright yellow pistils. The lotus buds that had just ripened also tilted in the water as the boat glided gently past. A strong fragrance enveloped and gently embraced us, a very special and extremely enjoyable feeling.
Pink lotus not only beautifies the beautiful countryside but also brings economic benefits to growers and idle farm workers. Many families not only grow lotus but also trade lotus products. They form women's groups to create jobs and income for them during their idle farming days.
Away from the bustling city, return to the peaceful countryside and let your soul wander into the fields with the scent of lotus to calm your mind and find the wonders of this life. The scent of lotus in summer will open your soul, sublimate your emotions and energize you. Returning to the lotus season is like that, it is elegance, a little nostalgia and wistfulness with the sweet scenery of a national flower. Come to Duc Linh, return to the mountain town in the lotus blooming season to feel more of those things.
