On the morning of October 8, both SJC branches in Da Nang, located at 185 Nguyen Van Linh and 193 Hung Vuong (Hai Chau District), were closed. A sign saying they were temporarily closed was posted outside the store. Some people who came to buy and sell gold had to return home.

Ms. TH (Hai Chau district) braved the rain to go to the SJC gold store on Nguyen Van Linh street with the intention of buying gold but was surprised to see the store closed.

“I am used to buying at this address. The reason I chose SJC is because it is a state-owned company, a national brand product, and it is easy to sell whether you go North or South. Now if you need to buy, you can go somewhere else, but what if you need to sell? Why is the store closed when gold is at its peak?”, Ms. H. was confused.

Ms. Khanh Hong (Da Nang) said that these past few days she wanted to sell SJC gold but both stores were closed, causing her many difficulties. Ms. Hong called the company's hotline but no one answered.

A security guard at a nearby bank said: “The SJC store has been closed for about 2 weeks. Recently, many customers came here and when they saw it was closed, they had to go back.”

Besides posting a “temporarily suspended trading” sign, both SJC branches in Da Nang have no information about the reason for the closure, nor the time of resumption of operations.

At 193 Hung Vuong, Mr. Duc, a customer, was also upset: "When a gold shop closes, there should at least be an announcement as to why and when it will reopen. This makes customers very confused."

The reporter contacted the store's phone number as well as the hotline of Saigon Jewelry Company Limited - SJC many times but no one answered.

PV also contacted the phone number of a leader of SJC, but the number was unreachable.

On SJC's official Facebook page, the company still posts information about gold prices, operating hours of some stores, and trading items, but there is no information about the closure of branches in Da Nang.

On the morning of October 8, Saigon Jewelry Company Limited-SJC announced the price of SJC gold bars at 83 million VND/tael for buying and 85 million VND/tael for selling. The price of SJC gold rings was at 82 million VND/tael for buying and 83.3 million VND/tael for selling.
