Although tonight, February 16 (the 7th day of Tet), the main festival of Vieng market (Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province) to pray for good luck in the new year takes place, since the afternoon, tens of thousands of people have flocked to the streets to go to Vieng market and Phu Day festival.
Every year, Vieng - Phu Day market is held only once a year from the night of January 7 to January 8, always attracting visitors from all over. According to records at 4:00 p.m. on February 16, tens of thousands of tourists flocked to Vieng - Phu Day market to enjoy spring, shop and pray for good luck.
The road to Phu Day was crowded, people jostled and inched forward.
Along the road leading to Phu Day, shops are bustling with business. Just like last year, the most popular items are ornamental plants, bamboo shoots, farming tools, etc.
Although these items are quite expensive compared to normal, they are always crowded with lucky buyers.
The scene of people buying lucky ornamental plants and joining the crowd creates a bustling atmosphere at the beginning of the year.
Beef products are also selling quite well at prices ranging from 220,000 VND - 250,000 VND/kg.
Responding to Dan Viet, Mr. Do Van Ky, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vu Ban district (Nam Dinh province) said that to ensure security, order and traffic safety for the market, the People's Committee of Vu Ban district has requested Goi town, Kim Thai and Trung Thanh communes to clear traffic corridors in the areas and national highways; not to allow encroachment on the roadside, selling trees, shops, causing congestion, obstructing traffic, especially on National Highway 10, National Highway 37B, the area of the Martyrs' Cemetery Temple of the district to the district stadium, National Highway 38B - the road down to Phu Van Cat to Kim Thai commune.
Despite the crowds, people are still excited to go to Vieng market and Phu Day festival. Mr. Hung (Ha Nam province) shared: "Vieng market is a unique market, I come here to buy plants to get luck at the beginning of the year."
At 4:30 p.m., the central area of Vieng market was crowded. The Organizing Committee had specified each business and service area in the market; reasonably organized parking lots for vehicles, avoiding price gouging; coordinated with member departments of the Steering Committee to resolve and handle social evils such as begging, gambling, theft, exchanging small change, trading in prohibited goods, and illegal money-making games during the Vieng market.
Traffic police regulate, guide and divide traffic on all roads leading to Vieng market.
