Artists of Ho Chi Minh City are proud of "Ho Chi Minh City

(NLDO) - 83 awards were given, joy and excitement surged in the hearts of artists in Ho Chi Minh City.

On the evening of December 30, at the City Theater, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce and award the Campaign to compose, stage and promote literary and artistic works (VH-NT) towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) with the theme: "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of proud heroic epic".

Musicians and authors: Pham Minh Tuan, Ngoc Truc, Nguyen Van Chung, Mai Tram, Le Thu Hanh expressed their emotions at the award announcement night.

Musician Pham Minh Tuan - who composed and submitted the symphonic work "Mother's Diary" shared: "The award ceremony is a meaningful activity towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. I deeply feel the meaning when I am immersed in the exciting atmosphere of artists before the results of artistic labor to celebrate the great holidays of the whole nation.

I composed a symphony about the heroic Vietnamese mother, also aiming at the sacred values of the entire nation. For me, Ho Chi Minh City is a great cultural center, celebrating the victory of the nation and the Fatherland. As a musician living in the city named after Uncle Ho, I wish to contribute to spreading the spirit of patriotism and love for the city in compositions that mark the times."

Author Ngoc Truc, who just won the Outstanding Author Award at the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 with the script "Aspiration for Peace" staged by Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theater, expressed: "I wrote the script "Aspiration for Peace" to participate in the Campaign as a writer with the desire to contribute my efforts to make Ho Chi Minh City's stage more and more beautiful and meaningful, worthy of a civilized, modern, and affectionate city.

I hope that after the campaign, there will be a promotion of new works organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City. This will be an opportunity to look back at the inner strength of the team of stage authors, prepare well for the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Stage Festival and celebrate the country's major holidays, including the important day of the whole nation, which is April 30, 2025."

Musician Mai Tram - the writer of the song "Hello 50 years of the city shining in His name" represented the young generation of artists of the city to express gratitude to the organizers of the campaign for creating a great opportunity for artists to express their creativity in each work and from here will spread the spirit of joining hands to protect and build the country and contribute to improving the efficiency of artistic work worthy of the citizen status of the country's great cultural center.

Musician Professor The Bao said that in the past time, the Preliminary, Final 1 and Final 2 Councils have worked impartially, with the spirit of respecting the creativity and dedication of the artists participating in the Campaign to select typical works to propose to the Organizing Committee for consideration and awarding prizes.

"The Campaign for works with high ideological and artistic values and above all, the determination to reach new heights of dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, rich in humanity, is always the premise for the young generation to follow the previous generation to build the country more and more prosperous" - Professor and musician The Bao said.

Dr. Pham Ngoc Hien, choreographer of the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center, said: "I staged the dance suite "A Flower Offering to Uncle Ho" to participate in the campaign. This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has created opportunities for many socialized units to contribute to promoting worthy works, aiming at the noble goal of caring for spiritual life and allowing the public to enjoy the noble artistic achievements of artists."

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Organizing Committee; Permanent Vice President of the Councils said: "The campaign to compose, stage and promote literary and artistic works towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification aims to promote the creative capacity of Ho Chi Minh City's artists, and domestic and foreign artists to participate in composing valuable works, praising the historical value of the struggle for national liberation, the cause of building and developing a civilized, modern and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City".

With 8 fields launched including: music; cinema; architecture; dance; fine arts; photography; theater; literature. The campaign has received the attention, support and participation of many artists nationwide.

After more than a year of launching, the campaign has received 630 works from 434 authors from all over the country. With deep affection for the city named after Uncle Ho, the authors and groups of authors have brought to the Campaign many works of high ideological and artistic value; diversity and richness in form and content, especially the works have closely followed the theme, expressing the strong aspiration for a Ho Chi Minh City reaching new heights in the future, while preserving the identity of the city with many unique cultural features.

The City Department of Culture and Sports said that from 2025, it will take the lead in coordinating with relevant agencies and units to organize activities to stage, propagate and promote works that have won high prizes in the Campaign, contributing to spreading the value of the works to the public.

The organizing committee awarded 83 awards in 8 fields including: 13 awards for literature; 7 awards for theater; 12 awards for dance; 10 awards for fine arts; 9 awards for cinema; 4 awards for architecture; 14 awards for photography; and 14 awards for music.

Musician Nguyen Van Chung - the composer of the song "Following the sacred will" confided: "When writing this song, I read Uncle Ho's will in the exhibition area at Ho Chi Minh City Radio Station VOH. I read it and found it very meaningful, a leader when he passed away only wished for the best for his homeland and people, did not think about himself and his family, did not need anything except happiness for the people and the dream of the country developing and prospering.

It must be someone with a great heart to write such a passionate will. The 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City is an extremely important event for the city named after Uncle Ho, and a great honor for the people who live and work here, a modern city that is developing strongly but still full of love.

As a citizen of Uncle Ho's city and a musician, I really hope to have meaningful spiritual contributions such as songs to spread the values from Uncle Ho's teachings."
