Forest protection posts are located at key locations and "gateways" into the forest, leading to people's production areas.

The force participating at each forest protection post is from 2 to 4 people, mainly members of the forest protection team of the village community contracted to protect the forest.
Forest protection posts have the task of propagating and mobilizing people in the area to participate in forest protection, organizing and implementing forest fire prevention and fighting; not exploiting, hunting, trapping wild animals, destroying forests, encroaching on forests; organizing checkpoints, checking, controlling, and guarding people entering and leaving forests in the management post area, promptly detecting and preventing acts of encroachment on forests.

Regularly monitor forest fire warning information on Lao Cai province's forest fire early detection system software (Hostpot LCA) to check and detect forest fires early; open daily logbooks, periodically and suddenly report on the situation of the shift according to regulations.
Forest protection posts maintain regular duty during the dry season, when the risk of forest exploitation and encroachment is high; they are on duty 24/7, including Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and Tet. At the same time, they coordinate with forest rangers to patrol, guard and organize propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility of people in forest management, protection and development.
According to the fire hotspot zoning, in the dry season of 2025, in Van Ban district there are more than 53 thousand hectares of flammable forests (including natural forests, planted forests, bare land, and shrubs).
To effectively protect forests, the district has directed communes, towns, and forest owners to develop plans for forest fire prevention and fighting; develop digital maps of fire-prone areas; prepare response plans for forest fire situations; review, maintain, repair, and invest in repairing and constructing forest protection works, purchasing equipment and tools for forest fire prevention and fighting; communes and forest owners have plans to mobilize on-site means from the people when a forest fire occurs.

State forest owners have allocated funds to purchase tools and equipment for forest protection, fire prevention and fighting teams to serve forest fire fighting at the grassroots level.
