In the current trend of integration and development of information technology, the demand and ability to use the internet among union members and youth is increasing and becoming more popular. Therefore, propaganda and orientation for union members to use social networks in a healthy and effective way are being carried out by the provincial union chapters at all levels.
Talking about this issue, Comrade Nguyen Hong Anh, Secretary of the Quang Xuong District Youth Union, shared: Social networks - especially Facebook - provide a very rich and diverse picture of information. However, selecting information among the current "news storm" is extremely important for those participating in social networks. Our share, like, and comment buttons can contribute to promoting and multiplying good things, but on the contrary, we can also unintentionally help bad guys. From that reality, in recent years, the Quang Xuong District Youth Union has always focused on promoting the role of the Youth Union in preventing and combating fake and toxic news on cyberspace. In particular, each Youth Union member is encouraged to always raise their vigilance and be ready to participate in the fight against fabricated, false, and untrue information sources. The District Youth Union has also established a grassroots public opinion orientation team. Every month, the commune and town unions will send summary reports and quick reports on public opinion orientation among the Youth Union. At the same time, the district union also directs the district union branches to establish pages and groups on Facebook and Zalo to propagate, gather and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the Youth Union.
With the viewpoint of "Using beauty to eliminate ugliness", the district Youth Union has directed the maintenance and development of two columns "One good news every day, one beautiful story every week" and the column "Propaganda Group". In recent years, the whole district has published thousands of good news, beautiful stories of the Youth Union members in the district in the New Rural Development, typical examples of the Youth Union members of the district and the whole country, propaganda articles applying Ho Chi Minh's ideology in the fight against the plot to exploit religion to sabotage the revolution, articles analyzing, commenting, criticizing untrue information, fabrications, and wrong views of hostile forces... Thereby, contributing to orienting the values of life, personality, beliefs and ideology for the Youth Union members; at the same time, initially creating a trend, a tendency to post and share positive information on social networks.
In recent years, the district Youth Union has also actively organized training sessions on the fight against wrong and hostile views on cyberspace for grassroots collaborators; coordinated with the district police to organize propaganda sessions on the Law on Cyber Security for young union members and high school students. At the same time, in order to improve the "resistance" of young people to bad and toxic information, the Youth Union at all levels has organized many activities, forums, and propaganda programs via social networks to improve skills and the ability to assess information from social networks and modern media, skills to identify bad and toxic information and sabotage tricks of hostile forces, and the culture of using social networks...
Comrade Hoang Bui Duc, Secretary of the Youth Union of Quang Trach Commune (Quang Xuong) shared: Propaganda and fight on cyberspace is very important. Because currently, most of the Youth Union members use social networks, so if they do not have a firm ideological orientation and stance, it will be difficult to avoid sharing false information. Therefore, in recent times, the Youth Union members in the commune have gradually promoted the role and responsibility of the youth in fighting against bad information on cyberspace, through actively posting and sharing good deeds, typical examples, good models, and good practices on the Facebook and Zalo pages of the commune Youth Union and of individual Youth Union members. At the same time, each Youth Union member, those who directly use social networks, must be responsible for eliminating bad, toxic, and false information that causes public confusion, affecting security, order, and social safety.
Clearly identify the Youth Union at all levels and its cadres and members as the vanguard and core force participating in the fight against fake and toxic news on cyberspace. In recent times, the provincial Youth Union at all levels has strengthened orientation and education to raise awareness and political capacity for young union members. Since 2018, Thanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union has officially established teams of collaborators to orient propaganda on social networks with the core being the Youth Union cadres at all levels from the province to the ward and commune levels. At the same time, each Youth Union base from the commune, ward and town level must establish at least 2 Facebook addresses, with its own management team. Each article posted on these Facebook pages must be strictly censored, ensuring promptness, accuracy and richness, creating a reliable information synthesis address and a place to connect young union members everywhere in the province. Along with that, it is to maintain and effectively operate the Thanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union's website and fanpage with rich and diverse content such as: building a beautiful image of Thanh Hoa youth in the new era, the column "Every day a good news, every week a beautiful story", protecting the Party's ideological foundation...
In recent years, the activities of the Thanh Hoa Province Youth Theory Club have also become a useful forum and playground for young people to discuss social issues of interest to young people, outstanding domestic and international political and social events, and issues facing youth organizations, associations, and teams in the current period; analyze and identify right and wrong to understand the issue thoroughly and thoroughly, contributing to raising young people's awareness of bad, toxic information and plots of hostile forces.
Through the diverse and practical activities of the provincial Youth Union chapters, it has contributed to orienting the Youth Union members to use social networks in a healthy way, bringing practical effects to life. However, in reality, to help the Youth Union members have a "shield" to protect themselves in cyberspace, the provincial Youth Union chapters need to further strengthen training, coaching, and improve the information technology level for Youth Union officials to operate and manage the Youth Union's fanpage; strengthen awareness education for the Youth Union members to equip them with scientific and correct methods of accessing information on the Internet; have a critical attitude, resolutely but soberly fight against false and toxic information. At the same time, encourage organizations and individuals to post and share positive information from official sources about good people, good deeds; beautiful images; good and creative ways of doing things in all areas of social life. Thereby, promptly orienting public opinion, creating a positive information dissemination effect, "resistance" to bad and toxic information, creating a healthy information environment for young people.
